Seriously, if this were a MS app, people would say "why do you use that crap?".... for Apple they just blow it off. Awesome objective ability.

Funny how people make excuses for Apple. Justified or not, no one does this for any other company.

i totally agree actually... that is such bullshit, even when adobe or anyone else does it... sure, tell me that this is a newer version and may be missing this that or the other, but the vast majority of the time, it wouldn't matter anyway...

It's called "Save As."
http://discussions.info.apple.co…This iWork '09 behavior is no different than Microsoft Office, or Adobe CS programs, or anything else really that has multiple file format versions. Next time try thinking through the problem rather than posting a GFY thread.

- I don't want to call my client to explain this, it'll turn into an hour long conversation.nb
- WAAAAA. I don't want to solve problems. WAAAAAA work is hard!duckofrubber
- The iWork behaviour is quite different than Office or CS. I can't open the file at all.nb
- no different than CS in my experience. Tired of asking clients to save down, I got the newest version. duh.arthur
- Actually you can open Office 2007 docs in Office 2003 without saving as 2003. GASP!404NotFound

A client sends me a couple of Pages docs, created in iWork '09. I bought iWork '08.
The files won't open because....
Seriously? You're putting out a new version every year (even though no one needs a new version) and you don't make new features backwards compatible?
I'd be fine with a screwed up file and a warning that tells me I've lost formatting/features/etc, but to block me from opening entirely? Lame.
Well, looks like I'm off to The Pirate Bay to pick up my new copy!
