oh look. BP are lobbying at the climate change talks in Bonn.
They have the nerve to lobby against progress on climate change while they blow their load over the US.
"There was outrage in the Bonn convention centre at the latest round of UN climate talks that BP should be there lobbying on behalf of the oil industry even as the company is spilling millions of gallons in the Gulf of Mexico. Lutz Von Meyerinck, director of Deutsche BP, and Enno Harks, political adviser, are listed as present, but were both keeping a low profile today. "

Second oil plume near Deepwater Horizon leaking since 2005. 10 mile long slick...

Drill baby drill...

“Dead zones suffocating 20,000 square kilometers of ocean. Endangered wetlands, disappearing at the rate of over 300 Ha/day. Clouds of black viscous poison soiling the coastlines of four states.
And then the Deepwater Horizon blew up.
What, you thought those apocalyptic descriptions were of the spill? You thought the Gulf of Mexico was some pristine marine wilderness before those nefarious assholes from BP came along and ruined everything?
What are you, twelve?”

Also, how the energy industry sees the Gulf:
"What energy executives see is a massive grid, tangled with scores of oil and gas pipelines and rival fields with macho names that sound like heavy metal bands, black-diamond ski runs, and weapons systems. Here's a small detail, slightly blurry, but you get the point. (Red lines are gas pipelines and pink are gas fields, green lines are oil pipelines and green blurbs are oil fields.)"
