    been there mate...

all you can really do is keep looking, keep your chin up and eventually something's going to work out... unfortunately it might take a lot longer than you'd hoped..

I guess it's a good idea to discuss salary range and so on before hand.

sorry, thats the worst kind of rejection. can you take things off your resume?

    • I'd been thinking of that too, but then I'd have some pretty inexplicable gaps in my CV.Continuity
    • say a family member got sick and you had to take care of them. make something upiCanHasQBN

So I got up this morning to find this lovely PFO from an agency after I'd had what I thought was a fantastic and promising Skype video interview with them:

    Dear [me],

Referring to the conversation you had with [the bloke I interviewed with], I would like to give you the following feedback.

Based on the interview and your resume we do not see an opening within [their shop] which suits you and is at the same senior level which you are on.

We are really sorry because we think highly of your work.

Let’s keep in touch so now and then, and when there is a appropriate vacancy we will definitely contact you.

Thank you for your interest in [their shop].

    Kind regards,

    [their HR person]

I'm so sick to the tits of this.

The subtext here, of course, is 'you're too expensive for us', but seriously, I've been running into this nine times out of 10 for the last almost year. I even made it a point of telling the guy in the interview that I was more than willing to take a more junior position.

Yet, when I also go for more senior creative jobs, I get told I'm not qualified, so it seems I'm stuck in some sort of middle un-definable area.

I really, honestly, don't know what more I can do to get out of that, and get back in the game. Argh!!
