glib,
Yes, with enough uncaring people this would/will blow over ;)
If I didn't know you any better I'd probably think you are projecting your own skepticism and (ahem) lethargy to the rest of the population. But I digress...
...however, I disagree that the "un-informed world" aren't interested enough to care. Secrecy was there and you can't blame everyone for not being their own interwebz detectives, but now the cat's out of the bag and people are not just curious/interested but are also taking action.
Can't speak for everyone, of course, but an example:
The country I am from recently learned how were pressured into handing over private citizens, and already protests are forming with demands of measures to prevent future violations of rights.
The effect those protest will have, I agree, may just well turn out to be ... inconsequential. Again, with enough skeptics, and more focus on the dude and not the message it may just blow over.
Then,
isn't it then up to you, the informed, and me, to engage a bit more instead of just saying something like "Yup, knew it. FIRST! Ah well..."?

My interest will be in the Banks, and what information is disclosed, but I have a strange feeling I all ready know.

They are holding him on half arsed charges that would never be refused bail in other cases. Would these allegations really warrant an international search for the guy if he wasn't inconveniencing the superpowers? Is it the only thing they can pin on him?
America is in a very uncomfortable position where it is struggling to find something to pin on him that doesn't make a mockery of their constitution. At a time where governments around the world are trying to play the 'difficult times' open and transparent card, this international witch hunt is just proving the deceit in that pretense.
Maybe we'll see if this insurance document really is anything interesting now. I doubt we will.
This has got future movie written all over it. Ken Loach?

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

I'm not sure revenge attacks on Mastercard will help the cause, more likely it will give the authorities more to try to pin on wikileaks.
