i have a sneaking suspicion this 'poison pill' of assange's is really nothing more than a bunch of scrambled ascii text. he knows every involved government is trying desperately to crack the encrypted file using every supercomputer they have available, and while very unlikely, it is possible one of them could crack it and then he'd be screwed.
- What if the govt supplied the leaks? Why do you think assange is a anarchist? Read his writings, he is a far left european. Pathetic.VikingKingEleven
- he's not far left, he's rather dubiously left of central. but I seriously hate talking politics left/rightDodecahedron
- there's no way there isn't actual information on the insurance file, that would be a stupid move. Its somethingDodecahedron
- Far Left? No. He's a classic Anarchist.TheBlueOne
- The password is 1235abc.
no supercomputer can crack that.digdre

@Dodecahedron, yes it would seem stupid, but again, given enough time even AES 256 bit encryption can be cracked and given his background in software engineering and cryptography, he knows this and had to have taken it into consideration. if the government cracks it and feels that the information isn't too sensitive to leak, then they have total control and he doesn't have any leverage.
- But if its nothing then he just totally bullshitted everyone? Is it really giving him any leverage?Dodecahedron
- if nobody can crack it, and he can keep the government(s) from 'taking him out', yes, i'd call that leverage.SteveJobs
- Well what I mean to ask is if having a 'doomsday file' at all really does anything if no one knows whats in it. He's releasing shit loads anywayDodecahedron
- ... lots of info anyway, he's in trouble. If someone wants to kill him they won't not do it because of an unknown file contentsDodecahedron
- yes, i'm asking that question as well (below) :)SteveJobs
- SteveJobs0
and seriously, what information could he possibly offer that would turn the world upside down? the warren commission's alternate report? the fact our first moon landing was filmed on a backlot in hollywood? the colonel's secret fried chicken recipe?
- unknown unknownsappalled
- yes this entire situation is jammed packed with unknown unknowns and known unknowsDodecahedron
- from here on out I only speak in questions?Dodecahedron
- Proof government arranged 911?Ranger

The criminal US government is in panic -- waiting to be tried for crimes against humanity, sort of like Nuremberg.
And very rightly so, if absolutely all secrets of US politics were released, there would be public hangings of all republicans in the streets.

He may have the last remaining invite to qbnpro.

If he had nothing of true import, then why the reaction from the Governments?
As a corollary, if say, Alex Jones or Glen Beck, were barking up the right tree, so to speak, wouldn't they have been shut up a long time ago? The fact that they're not is kinda telling, no?
- reaction is sort of self serving. If you can over blow it a bunch you have more political energy, more excuses to make big changesDodecahedron
- ...big changes.Dodecahedron
- I get it, I just don't buy it. In this case...TheBlueOne
- But thats what IS happening with all the death threats and calls for 'treason' and DoS. upping the anti and power grabbingDodecahedron
- ...grabbing in the midst of all this.Dodecahedron
- They were grabbing the power anyway. All it does is accelerate the process with WAY too much attention drawnTheBlueOne
- I still think it's because of what he HASN'T revealed, but they know he hasTheBlueOne

Sweden's reputation is on trial in Julian Assange case
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/opin…The popular man Israel Shamir tells about one of the women who put Assange behind the bars
http://www.counterpunch.org/sham…
"Anna Ardin (the official complainant) is often described by the media as a “leftist”. She has ties to the US-financed anti-Castro and anti-communist groups. She published her anti-Castro diatribes (see here and here) in the Swedish-language publication Revista de Asignaturas Cubanas put out by Misceláneas de Cuba. From Oslo, Professor Michael Seltzer points out that this periodical is the product of a well-financed anti-Castro organization in Sweden. He further notes that the group is connected with Union Liberal Cubana led by Carlos Alberto Montaner whose CIA ties were exposed here. Note that Ardin was deported from Cuba for subversive activities. In Cuba she interacted with the feminist anti-Castro group Las damas de blanco (the Ladies in White). This group receives US government funds and the convicted anti-communist terrorist Luis Posada Carriles is a friend and supporter. Wikipedia quotes Hebe de Bonafini, president of the Argentine Madres de Plaza de Mayo as saying that “the so-called Ladies in White defend the terrorism of the United States.”"

The so called 'manhunt' itself is proof enough to believe that poison pill isn't a file full of crap.
And let's be honest here, if something happens with the guy while in custody... people will go crazy. fucking crazy I tell you.- and then they'll play with their iphones and forget about it next week.jaylarson

My guess is there's a stronger reaction to the wikileaks because of the bank documents. There were leaks before without a reaction this strong. The financial connections include paypal, mastercard and visa.

I wonder if wikileaks have received any new information, both corporate and governmental, in the light of recent events? Surely they must be getting them in thick and fast.
- I would think once he was arrested every single file would be released?74LEO
- possibly, then again leakers don't like the lime light. Releasing something now in the midst of all this would be suicideDodecahedron
- ...suicide,Dodecahedron

Someone has to blow the top off of this . how much longer can america go on with all of this bullshit.
- Judging by the Roman Empire, a few centuries...TheBlueOne
- well it started in 1776 so id say we are due74LEO
- It'll last as long as the US has the global reserve currency. So probably another 8, 9 years.TheBlueOne

I wonder why there is no public reaction to the soldiers killing civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the videos that was released shows 12 Iraqi civilians and children and a few Reuters reporters being killed by american soldiers. The same video was being sought through the Freedom of Information Act for charges but they weren't releasing it. When people saw the film/photos from Vietnam War they freaked out, thats when soldiers started getting spit on in public etc. People seem to be desensitized to war violence these days.
I also heard on the news some soldier admitted he was shooting at Afghans "for fun", not sure if it was related to wikileaks but still, no one is pissed about it, barely anyone mentions it. Everyone just says the wikileaks documents are the same old thing when there's real heinous crimes being exposed as well.
- 24 hour news channels desensitized everyone to everything.DrBombay
- When there were three newscasts on a day it was big news. And everyone watched it.DrBombay
- Nowadays people think there are two sides to every story.DrBombay
- It's pathetic.DrBombay
- rupert murdoch.digdre
- I would add Call of Duty to the list of desensitizing agents...sorry don't want to insult anyone's favorite gameDodecahedron
- horrible how they were laughing also. 18 year old kids over there74LEO
- laughing? yikes. I didn't actually watch it I just read about. Stuff makes me nauseous.Dodecahedron
- Murdoch, GE owns NBC, etc. The real news gets pushed off to blogs were it gets dismissed as lone crazy people...TheBlueOne
- ..you know, lone crazy people who fuck without condoms.TheBlueOne
- funny how they focused on how he banged them without condoms.74LEO
- Well, that's just unethical, no? *drips with sarcasm*TheBlueOne
- SteveJobs0
desensitization can be attributed to many things. the media, video games, movies.. and other factors like overpopulation, and as well as the fact it's becoming increasingly difficult for us to sympathize because we're so caught up in our own lives. the value of a human life is continuously dwindling... ugh.. now i need to go watch a funny movie or play some FPS games..

Illuminati have any part to this?
- They still around?pinkfloyd
- ...uh welll...theoreticall... the Illuminati run the NWO who run the governments, who run the CIA who run the media...or soemthingDodecahedron

You know what would be sweet if they leaked pictures of moon bases.
- digdre0
Kinda lame since none of the cables are actually 'top' secret
- truely 'top secret' stuff is basically impossible to leak, there's many levels of secrecy and back checksDodecahedron
- Sort of what I was saying about people not caring even though there's really incriminating stuff being exposedDodecahedron
