hahaha, I'm sorry, you said "Game 7 in the NBA finals is as close as youll ever get to the excitement of the superbowl"? Excitement?

    • Yeah, you ever watch some of the best SBs of all time? There's a reason why it's watched in 80+ countries.CygnusZero4

You know why the Heat lost last night? It's not because Bronbron got 0 pts. It's not because Wade got a major hip contusion on what should have been a fucking offensive foul for charging. It's not because Bibby was cold, or that Haslem was cold.

Eric Fucking Spoelstra is why the Heat lost last night and no one is talking about that angle. No, people would rather point fingers at the players who are on the floor playing their hearts out.

Spoelstra, that Simpsons character looking motherfucker, lost the game for his team with all of the substitutions. There is no way you can win a game at this level when you are subbing every five minutes. There's absolutely no way to get into a rhythm when the longest play time anyone is logging is 5-10 minutes. Add to that the fact that he blew a huge timeout when D. Wade came back to the bench. Seriously? You put D. Wade in right away, and then two baskets (roughly 35 seconds of play clock) later, you call a timeout because obviously there's no rhythm on the floor.

Micky Arison and Pat Riley should be up in Spoelstra's asshole from now until Sunday. Carlisle, on the other hand, is demonstrating he is truly a top-notch coach in this Finals series. Some of the play calls and subs have been spot-on. Indiana Pacers are probably crying in a corner somewhere right now.

All that said, I don't have a dog in this fight, and am really torn on who I want to win. Do I want the Heat to win and finally put an end to all the media clamoring and return to the other 29 excellent teams in the league? Or do I want three excellent vets—all three of which I respect as players—to finally get their rings? Hmm...

Sunday is gonna be such a great game.

    • "players who are on the floor playing their hearts out." Yopu must admit that there are players that are hidding from the ball and avoiding responsibilityOSFA

^ Its tough to put it on the coach. This series is so close, it can go any way pretty easily. Hate to say it, but when things go wrong and critics dont want to point the finger at players, the blame goes straight to the coach. The entire team was accountable for the loss. You cant make many mistakes in a Finals series, no matter what position you play.

    • Also, when LBJ doesnt go for 50/12/10, its easy to point the finger at him too.desmo
    • Fair enough. You're certainly right that there's no room for error anywhere. Even the water boys.

    • What you mean stepping up? He's always like this.CygnusZero4
    • I mean that he is stepping up his shooting game, period. He's not being an assister, a rebounder. He's focusing on what he does best.

Check a few pages back ... Dallas in 6.

  • CygnusZero40

James had a triple double. Is it an epic final performance? No, but it's still a solid performance. His problem right now is he isnt getting to the line enough. He only got to the line once, while Dirk got there 5 times I think, and made all of them.

In the past he was very aggressive, would get fouled constantly, but in this series he's playing more passive, defaulting to Wade a lot, but everyone thought that for Miami to be what they could be, BOTH had to be aggressive. Seems like he is still trying to figure out the best way for this team to operate. It's only their first year together, while this Dallas team has been together for many years.

If the Heat lose this it's not the end of the world, I think they'll be back again, but Dallas is coming to the end of what they can do, they're an older team, so if they're going to do it, now is the time. If the Heat win the next 2 at home, this could be the end of the road for Dallas.

    • Dirk actually missed one free throw.

everybody is trying to compare lebron with mj...but nobody says that lebron has a loooooot to go to compare with kobe...and then, and only then he can be in the same sentence with jordan...it's little disrespectful to kobe...he is number 2...and even now, when he is old, he is a daddy to lebron...

  • CygnusZero40

One thing you have to say about the Heat is even without Lebron playing well in these games, the Heat was still close in them.

The Heat are unstoppable when Lebron and Wade are both playing well like they were during the season and in the playoffs up until now. James has these stretches where we loses the feel for his shot, and then he goes on monster tears across many games scoring 30+ every night. Just very bad timing for him to lose his shot.

    • I root for Dallas just because most of them are old and good players and deserve a ring. Heats are going to get a few of them in the following seasonsk_temp

^ I guess if I had to draw a line in the sand and pick who I want to win, it would be for these reasons and the same that k_temp said. Bron is going to get his ring eventually, it's just a matter of time. Maybe next week after some serious off-season training, but it will happen eventually I am sure of it.

The Mavs' vets on the other hand are on a limited time table for getting theirs (read: this year or next). So I guess that's my reason to pull for them. Plus, I've always had faith in Dirk as a player. Love the dude's work ethic, and the incredible athleticism he displays.

    • admit it... you got the hots for ze german...OSFA
    • I kind of do. I model my own bball play after his. Practice that leaned back fade away daily.

Im kind of pulling for Dallas for the same reason, this might be their last shot, but the guys on the Heat are all fairly young, still have many good years left in them, so it's not the end of the world for them if they lose, but it could be for Dallas.

Always torn about it thought because like most people in the NBA, I cannot stand Mark Cuban. He not only has a big mouth but he's just a lot more visible than I'd like an owner to be. He's even talked shit many times about his own players, including Dirk.

Cuban has been invisible during these finals. Maybe he finally realized its best to let his guys do what they do best, play, and he just do what he does best, write the checks.

Did you know that Chris Bosh originally went to Georgia Tech for graphic design - from Wikipedia "Bosh eventually chose to follow the footsteps of his cousin and aunt and attended Georgia Tech to study graphic design and computer imaging, and subsequently, management."

    And the theories continue...

    http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/r…

It's no secret LeBron hasn't been playing like himself lately. Explanations have ranged from his girlfriend cheating on him with Rashard Lewis to fatigue from playing too many minutes to lacking Michael Jordan's killer instincts.

The simple answer -- he's choking. Literally.

Choking is a real, recognized psychological problem. It happens when you overthink an action, and it affects everyone, from a kid taking a test to a basketball superstar taking a free throw.

"Attention to the details of your performance can be detrimental if you are a highly skilled athlete who, under normal conditions, executes his or her skill without too much conscious control," said Dr. Sian Beilock in an article that ran last year in Psychology Today.

Beilock, an expert on the science of choking and author of Choke, discussed why it took A-Rod so long to reach 600 home runs.

"Superstars have the love of the fans behind them and also the huge expectations that come with their success, which can make them more self-conscious. With that heightened self-consciousness, they also pay increased attention to their own performance, which, unfortunately, results in more shots wide of the goal or more strikes when up at bat."

When the pressure gets to be too much, Beilock explains, you can no longer perform at your best.

The point is LeBron isn't being lazy. He hasn't stopped caring. He doesn't want to let people down.

He's just a 26-year-old (how many people, regardless of status, have it together in their mid twenties?) under pressure who finally reached his breaking point and choked.

It's not that he doesn't want to step up. He can't.

That doesn't mean he won't play up to his potential Sunday. It just means that for the time being, he's stuck. And no matter how much we yell at him, he has to come out of this on his own.

    Let's just hope it's now.

  • CygnusZero40

There is such a bright spotlight on Lebron. He's on a new team, first year there, not the only star there, played amazing in the regular season and the playoffs, and jesus, the dude basically just had a couple bad games and look what happens to him, people speculating about his personal life.

He had a triple double the other night. There's no doubt he's one of the best players in the game, and he's had a couple off nights, it happens to the best of the best, it happened to Jordan too. People read too much into this shit. He's still young, plenty of time to cement his legacy. It doesnt matter if he doesnt win a championship in his first year on a new team.

Even if he just ends up with like 3 or 4 rings I still think he'll be talked about in the top 10 best players of all time. He doesnt need to match Jordan's or Kobe's rings to get there, he does more defensively than those 2 guys ever did.

  • loool0

Well, Dirk is clutch now that's for sure...

but remember Golden State in 2007...and Carmelo raped him couple years ago...and all the Dallas fails in the playoffs throughout these years...

conclusion: you can't beat everyone and become nba champ just like that in your first year...I'm sure Lebron will carry his teams in the future to some rings...but he must fail a couple of times, like Jordan did, like Dirk did...

  • dijitaq0

    @cygnus
"he does more defensively than those 2 guys ever did"

both are 9 times all-defensive first team. jordan led the nba in steals three times. get your facts straight

    • Uh, pretty much everyone on ESPN says James is a better defender. It's one thing they never argue. Check your facts.CygnusZero4
    • Lebron is hands-down a better defensive player than Jordan or Kobe. Bron was too busy winning MVP every year for DPotY.
