Does anyone know exactly how apple create their product images ?
I had this discussion with some friends and we had different opinions...
Is it completely CG ?
Is it vector / illustrator?
Simple photoshoot with some touch ups in photoshop ?I think that they probably take pictures in the desired angle then redo everything in vector. I've been googling trying to find some info regarding their process and cant find anything, does anyone know for sure or has a link which details their methods ?
Thanks

I would say its option C. seems like to much trouble making those 100% vector

I remember seeing something where similar things get shot as individual components, very carefully lit, then very carefully retouched. And by retouched, I mean that some things are almost completely recreated. I dunno if Apple follows that process but it'd make sense.

I think its CG. All of their products are very simple shapes and textures. It wouldn't be difficult for a good CG guy to make that stuff look real.

i worked with a photographer once who was good friends with one of the guys that does the shots.
he said the dude is basically locked in a room for a week to do all the shoots.
apple is his only client. he is paid very well.

If its anything like car photography a single image is sometimes a composite of a few photographs with different lighting and CG renders.

TheFatBaron is probably the closest here. I've worked on a couple of shoots where each component of a product is lit individually and shot for strip.
When you composite all of the stripped components together into a single image you get this seemingly gloriously photographed product.
But to be honest I doubt there's anything 'simple' about how they shoot their photography. The devil is in the details. Such subtle gradients and reflections...and the lighting is immaculate. Le sigh.
- sorry forgot to mention the mad amounts of post processing tood_rek
- its all about the composite. these days full CG is done the same way with multiple renders or combined with photos.Dodecahedron

i did shit for Sun and it was all cg. i'd think apple would do the same. they already have the models. this way you can have it at any angle with any lighting, any time you need. why both w a shoot when theres a change you may not get the shot and or angle you need?

they are composed of 90% zebra cum
