maybe walk around the neighborhood to coffee shops that do this sort of thing and see if you can commission some employee of said establishment to also chalk up your establishment?
There's a ton of coffee shops and tiny restaurants in brooklyn that do their own signs well.

Variety in Williamsburg, on Graham Avenue at Grand I think? Near Graham Avenue L train stop. There's a girl in there called Amanda who always does really nice jobs but they're not so calligraphic.

thru college i worked as a barista. my favorite part of the day was doing the chalkboard work, i took half the morning on them - but, would always gather a good crowd so the boss was cool with it. then, when i became the boss, i took the whole morning on them. good days.
- I had a similar experience working at a pub - best part of the job.nosaj

Hey Everyone. I am also in need of a chalkboard artist! Did you ever find someone who could do your job?
Can you email me @ if you know of anyone (besides dana), or reply to the post.
Thanks!

As a signwriter and chalkboard artist in the UK, i'd be interested to know how much Dana charges - care to spill the beans? She's very good, just be interesting thats all...

Dan Cassaro does hand lettering, may be worth looking up.
