Blame Canada!

Yeah I mean it would be dumb to start arguing because people like one thing or another. Some people like Justin Bieber, or the girl who sings the Friday song.

i will comeback to wikipedia next year to read about brostep

Bassnectar is part of the problem.

Lets take a step back and look at this.
You guys are arguing about dubstep.

OK so what's up with Tipper?
- ukit0
Tipper was around before dubstep. There used to be a scene called nu school breaks....(yes I'm old:)
- He seems to have a lot of different sounds.HijoDMaite
- nu school breaks? FL scene? Adam F? or like Icey shit?HijoDMaite
- Yeah, Adam Freeland:)ukit
- that was my shit! tipper is still technically better than 99% of the producers outsublocked

These sort of conversations are everything that is wrong with modern music.

I listened to house, hip-hop, d-tempo for so many years. Stayed away from the trendy trance and big beat sound. I just dabbled in d'n'b and b-beats for years then all of the sudden around early to mid 2000's this electro thing tried to take off and before I could say wtf is going on, then bam! DubStep was here and glitch and grime and all that shit so now I'm like wtf I don't really know dance music. But I must say the FMT has helped me stay a float a little!

At the end of the day who can say one kind of music is better than another? Almost this might be true if you were comparing Kenny G to John Coltrane or something.
- *althoughukit
- Who's to say Kenny G isn't the true master of jazz music?ukit
- i understand your POV, my only gripe is assigning the genres and founders. hard to classify all of itlogi
- sorry but KG isnt the master of Jazz music, reason: that's not Jazzjadrian_uk

i can't even imagine what kind of madness is going to come next
- i wish i could hear what five years from now sounds likescarabin
- Probably what happened five years ago, this shit is cyclical. (music)Andrew_D
- eventually technology will be abandoned for something traditional instrument dominant.logi
- *crosses fingers for a big band revival (been wanting one for about a decade now)logi
- check out "big band remixed + reinvented" if you dig tech jazzlogi

Actually can't we assume that some of the IDM stuff we are hearing like Flying Lotus is spearheading the "newer" sounds?
It is interesting that the sound has more organic properties to it.

I guess it's hard to generalize. Many trends going on at once in different parts of the world.
Like you said, there's the Flying Lotus/ LA beats scene emerging. Another trend over the past year is dubstep producers starting to produce house with African influences (UK funky).
- UK Funky? yes please.HijoDMaite
- links? or youtoobs?HijoDMaite
