- u haven´t understood the horrific and idiotic componnents of bitcoin u must be mentally retarted !neverscared
- They are all true. What's more important are the horrific and idiotic components of people trading it. Take advantage while it lastsdrgs

- Good point is no bitcoins were burned or lost in the vandalism. Same couldn't have been said if a fiat ATM was attacked.shapesalad

Bitcoin's growing e-waste problem
"Highlights
•
Bitcoin's annual e-waste generation adds up to 30.7 metric kilotons as of May 2021.•
This level is comparable to the small IT equipment waste produced by a country such as the Netherlands.•
On average Bitcoin generates 272 g of e-waste per transaction processed on the blockchain.•
Bitcoin could produce up to 64.4 metric kilotons of e-waste at peak Bitcoin price levels seen in early 2021.•
The soaring demand for mining hardware may disrupt global semiconductor supply chains."- Bitcoin is spearheading the move to renewable energy, eg replace aluminium smelting in Iceland with BTC mining on thermals.shapesalad
- Layer 2 protocols will handle the majority of transitions and be more eco friendly, bitcoin as a layer 1 will be more akin to gold.shapesalad

As bitcoin ages and matures so do the math equations and hash complexities it will be a huge carbon footprint disaster if you think it's bad now just wait until all the coins are mined remind hahahaha
Of course I'm still holding!
In other news come on Ada drop drop drop drive drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop drop- With current hash rates all the coins can be mined by 2140
After that date, the miners get only transaction fees.
IF the human race can last that long...grafician

Here's how much electricity it takes to mine Bitcoin and why people are worried
Cryptocurrency takes a lot of energy to keep things running.- At 121.36 terawatt-hours, crypto mining would be in the top 30 of countries based on energy consumption.neverscared

U.S.’s Binance Probe Expands to Examine Possible Insider Trading
investigations into Binance Holdings Ltd. have expanded, with authorities now examining possible insider trading and market manipulation -- the latest sign that scrutiny of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange is intensifying.

why's Bitcoin down 10%? what's happening?
- markets are down because of Evergrande worries. bitcoin follows.uan
- Bitcoin is supposed to NOT follow anything and be this amazing independent decentralized thingy. No? no HODL?Krassy

Pray for El Salvador, their president practically bought the top.
Bitcoin loves this kind of scenarios:
The people force him to sell and then the price immediately pumps, making him sell the dip, the very tip of the V-shaped bottom.Similarly, Microstrategy shareholders can force M Saylor to sell if they start getting paper hands. The price shoots up immediately after, because Bitcoin.
One or the other will mark the coming bottom point, because if there is a potential for maximum pain, the sacrifice absolutely must happen.
- I called this a few pages ago and ever since, but you guys keep downvoting and denying lolgrafician
- One thing you can do with crypto and some other volatile assets: never advertise your position, especially if it's a big one

Explain something to an idiot please:
Why is crypto so fucking energy intensive, and can it not be redesigned to NOT be so bad for the environment?
Even from a purely financial POV, if you could come up with a green-friendly coin, Elon would jump on it, promote it and you'd be rolling in money!
I, and millions of others, would love to jump on board if not for the environmental impact.
- Yes, they're working on it / some coins already purport to have it. Difference is currently essentially 'Proof of work' vs. 'proof of stake'Nairn
- there are a bunch, bitcoin and other proof of work systems are particularly bad because the 'nodes' prove they are secure to the network by continuallykingsteven
- processing data. there are even orgs like energy web who's aim is to use the blockchain to make energy markets themselves more environmentally friendlykingsteven
- i'm not a fan of bitcoin, which is the worst major cryptocurrency in just about every aspect except securitykingsteven
- Ethereum 2 coming, more green.
There's coins like Tezos which are far far greener.microkorg - There already exist eco-friendly coins (IOTA, NANO etc), but no one cares about them, because no one is interested in using crypto to begin withdrgs
- Thanks y'all. What would be the most eco friendly one that's worth investing at the mo?Projectile
- ETH 2 was postponed AGAIN ofc
maybe 2022
