5 Ways Google Earns Money Off You -
How users contributed to the $10.6 billion first-quarter revenue Google reported Thursday. While consumers get a lot of entertainment from free social networking sites like Google+ and email services Gmail, experts say they are often unaware of how much information they are sharing with market research companies.
“Google is selling access to all the digital dosiers it puts together about us. It’s selling all our desires and wishes to advertisers.”

"According to RJMetrics, 30 percent of first-time Google+ public posters don’t post again. Of those who make five public posts, only 15 percent post again. The average time lapse between posts is 12 days, and RJMetrics cites a cohort analysis showing that members tend to make fewer public posts with each successive month. And the response to public posts on Google+ is extremely weak. The average post receives fewer than one reply, fewer than one “+1″ (the equivalent to Facebook’s “Like”), and fewer than one re-share—basically most posts in the study did not garner any response."

Looks more like facebook with every passing day lol

I've still never used it, but I am going to start (particularly for photography).
Google just has to wait it out. Eventually, I hope, they'll be able to integrate it more and more and bring people over. The "ecosystem" is the key to the future. Apple dominates that now, but Google is getting closer and closer.
Google has the staying power to wait, too, as they are not relying on one site to make their cash. They make so much damn money and are diversified (for a tech company).
Facebook will taper, eventually, and unless they invent something amazing (one trick pony so far), they'll falter like every other 'internet stock'.

I don't want it integrated with the rest of their services if it means having it foisted on me as a non-user. I'm not getting an account just because the top search result for something is a G+ circle.

Why Google keep G+ alive? It's like a real joke. No one is really using it but every media feels they need to put a 'share on G+' on their pages. Facebook is just too big. Sad because G+ is better in my opinion.

GFY Google!

G+ will win, imho. Facebook offers me nothing in terms of business promotion, so besides gaining a few likes via paid promotion ($5), I'll never pay to be there (it is social, not professional).
G+, however, is tied with their search (every time I search for a business, whether it be a restaurant, car dealer, etc., their G+ account is what shows up).I do think Google is a 'wait and hold' company. They have excellent phones, but don't promote them like Samsung and Apple, they have G+ and don't really promote it (obviously that's an exaggeration, but compared to others that are one trick ponies, like Facebook).
Over time, people will migrate as they want better search and are tired of Facebook's endless game changing rules (you reach 3-4% of your fan base when you post?! WTF! Thankfully I don't rely on it, but friends that do it will kill them).
All of the people I follow have G+ accounts that are active, almost as active as FB accounts (not nearly the followers, though).
Point is Google is making a killing and controls search and advertising. They don't need G+ to a be a money make, they just need it to tie together with what deos make them money (see my comment about what shows up in a search).
Facebook has nothing but Facebook. They are leveraging everyone that spent years building fans and now charging them to access the fan base they spent ages putting together. That's bad business, imho, and will eventually bite them.
I will use G+ because of its tie to search, its worth something to my business. Facebook is nothing more than a useless "fun" place to browse.
