- Looks interesting. Especially the open source mention. Wonder if there's going to be an api to develop with.section_014

- I mean you get into those numbers and you could get a 13" iPad Pro 512GB for like $400 less and make it a music rig of sortsprophetone

Picked up an iPad Mini 4 to better use the music apps I love on it, which are painfully slow on my iPad 2, which is too slow these days to even use productively.
I use the Animoog app often on my iPhone but it doesn't have the recording feature that the iPad version has. Looking forward to spending time on my train commute actually being able to come up with ideas and save stuff a lot easier. I like Animoog the most, but also Xynthesizer for the step-sequencing patterns and whatnot.
Also will be nice to use it as a remote for Logic. I'm finding that I get a decent amount of buzz from my guitar pickups the closer I set to my computer; sitting further away on my couch gets me in a sweet spot with no sound issues. Never used the logic remote on my old iPad.
- there's definitley recording on animoog on ipad... is it different from the iphone? you've just got to swipe up from the delay module on the right...kingsteven
- use logic remote quite a bit, great for not having a lap-top up front when i'm doing live shows - bit of a pain in the ass if you don't have a wifi router sincekingsteven
- apple removed the ability to set passwords on sharing wifi and fucked up bluetooth PANkingsteven
- the iPhone version has that recording feature, but not the 4-track feature and ability to save and export.mg33
- I keep coming up with samples and sounds on my phone, but can't save them, and often by the time I'm home, they're gone after closing the app.mg33
- ah, i read that the other way round! yeah really handy that.kingsteven

Question for you guys: do any of you use drum sound libraries from something other than your DAW? I only have what comes with Logic; it's the one area I've not invested any time in with plugins and such.
Any recommendations on more traditional analog drum sounds with plenty of variety to the sounds, tones, etc? I could list a few different bands with drum sounds for reference, but either Logic's available drums just don't cut it, or, I'm just not as adept at tweaking them and the channel strips to get exactly the sounds I want.
This is a good reference point for softer minimal drums, good reverb and air to them.
- Look at Drum Drops. I have 5 or 6 of their libraries, and they all have EXS24 presets to use.section_014
- that just sounds like a room mic on a kit with some compression and echo. i work with real drums a lot so i'm usually trying to make them sound bigger...kingsteven
- someone shared this free AU a while back https://www.tokyodaw… it would be able to get the logic drum kit designer to sound more airykingsteven
- i dont use any drum libraries. But if I want analog drum sounds, I reach for the basic components; Noise Generator, VCF, VCAfuturefood
- then use space designer to add a room convolution reverb -> eq -> compressor echo... but can't beat the real deal!kingsteven
- if you have hardware or software with these components, then you can create any drum sound you need. It's really not hard to create a patch of any drum part.futurefood
- yeah... what these guys said ^ lolfuturefood
- AddictiveDrums2 from XLN Audio is a pretty awesome plugin/library. SIgn up to their mailing list to keep eye out for offers or Black Friday deals.microkorg
- Last Black Friday I went halfers with a mate on AD2 and a load of their Midi and Kit packs.microkorg
- Closest you'll get to a real drum feeling and sound with a computer I reckon.microkorg
- Thanks guys!mg33

Spent some time exploring the drum sounds in Logic's EX24 last night (I don't usually dig into that) and FINALLY found that there's a brush kit with a great brush snare sound. None of the producer kits and other stuff you access through the left side offer that. I do like the kits that all come in one channel strip with each drum aspect as it's own channel within, but seems like I might be better off picking and choosing drum sounds from different kits and setting those on on individual channel strips.
Which brings me to a question for any of you Logic users: How can I combine sampled sounds from different sets into one custom set? Ex: create a custom drum kit with the brush sound from one kit, kick from another, cymbals from another, etc?
Want to figure that out and get it set up on my BeatStep so that it's always ready to go, notes assigned to the pads, etc.

Got the iPad mini last night and already using it on the train today. :)
I was concerned about the screen size vs. my old iPad. Have to say, the mini is PERFECT for my hand size, and ability to read for any control in various synth apps. Same goes for the Logic Remote which I used last night. Such a good purchase
