I've been picking up more stuff from Spitfire Audio after first using their free Labs sounds. So many great sounds, experimental treatments on instruments (frozen cellos, for example) and they've got something new coming out called Stratus, a collaboration with OLAFUR ARNALDS.
Fusing the power of technology with the organic beauty and emotion of the piano, Stratus is a vast, dynamic new instrument that will add depth, movement and colour to your music. Made in collaboration with BAFTA-winning Icelandic composer and producer Ólafur Arnalds, this versatile, multidimensional tool bends space and time through an intricate network of polyrhythmic piano performances. Awe-inspiring patterns and atmospheric clouds of harmonic refractions swell and die away at your fingertips, unfolding based on what you play and instantly sparking new ideas.
Instantly playable and easy-to-use, Stratus is presented in a bespoke interface made up of eight multi-layered piano and synthesizer matrixes, each offering a unique sonic experience — plus detailed customisation options and mind-blowing warped sounds, offering a spectrum of emotion.

It's $250 on pre-order, might not be a wise purchase these days, but I'm really intrigued by it.
- Their "originals" epic strings are pretty nice. Got it a month or so ago. Need to check out some of the free stuff.section_014
- I have the originals felt piano, it’s really nice.mg33

- his krautrock vid for example, i spent about 10 years of my life tracking down those records with a copy of cope's krautrocksampler :Dkingsteven
- some stuff i didn't get to hear until bureau b started reissued 5 years ago now it's all just there, on spotify... amazing really.kingsteven

its so weird, all my friends are super productive at the moment.. I am struggling to just keep shit together.. everyone is working from home, and as my wife is the primary bread winner, she gets the most isolated space to keep her back free, which happens to be my studio..
I would love dearly to make some music.. I will soon I guess.. but at the moment it feels like madness preparing for a storm which you can see coming but hasn't hit yet..
also while we both have work, that is our priorities..
I do miss music tho.
one day..
soon I hope- same man, folks have made whole records and i think i've picked up a bass twice (to my credit i did jam out for hours through two amps with a ton of fuzz :D).kingsteven
- got a laptop? lay down ideas in your daw with a midi keyboard?inteliboy

Anyone using a 1010Music Black Box?
Hadn't heard of it previously came across them yesterday on youtube.
Been looking at MPC/Octatrack for some beat/loop-making to accompany the SC1000 i'll be getting soon. This guy is tiny and can be ext-battery powered (and will power the sc1000 too).
Can be paired with an MPD or similar controller for 'real' pad control too.
Pretty neat little box that's getting fucntionality added all the time. One neat feature is that even if all pads are loops with different BPM's, when you hit play they all timestretch to the same and all can have tempo changed globally.
- Been doing more research into this, can do randomised beat-chop-playback which makes it VERY attractive!microkorg

Using this time of isolation to get my new project up, called The Ageless Sea. Will be posting bits and pieces of songs-in-progress, samples of effects pedals, and a lot more as I have time. Music-making is proving to be a really great distraction right now.

Making Beats PUNCHES FOR:
All these countless authorizers required for every VST under the sun. My computer is clogged with these fuckers running in the background
No, I don't want to install a "portal" for a simple EQ plugin thank you very much.

- Was just thinking this the other day. Valhalla has the best system where you download a personalized key for activation. No bullshit to log into.section_014

kinda glad I dont need any hardware at the moment.. just checked in Australia and pretty much across the board everything just went up in price .. example.. Octatrack Mk2 used to be $2000.. now is $3150
Digitone $1050 is now $1750.
fucking hilarious.. no one in their right mind would spend $3k on a octatrack..
- Moog one, was $13000.. now $19999 .. who has $20k for a keyboard.autoflavour
- That's nuts! Is that cos importing has dropped due to lockdown? Why the price hikes?microkorg
- And here's me hoping that shops are going to be having sales to get people TO buy going forward if lockdown continues.microkorg
- exchange rate + Australia fools tax is insane. good if getting payed in USD though - iTunes/spotify etc.inteliboy
- Exchange rate .. but I also think it’s a bit of price gauging because you can still buy it normal prices outside of australiaautoflavour
