Police shot two female bystanders in Times Square last night while confronting an emotionally disturbed man who “simulated shooting the officers." A 35-year-old man was acting erratically—weaving in and out of traffic—in the middle of W. 42nd Street at Eighth Avenue around 9:35 p.m. Saturday night. When cops attempted to detain him, he suddenly “reached into his pocket, took out his hand, and simulated as if he was shooting at them,” Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

Snake bites woman after sitting in wine for three months
The Year of the Snake proved unlucky for a woman, surnamed Liu, in Shuangcheng, Heilongjiang Province who needed hospital treatment after being bitten on the hand by a snake that jumped out of a bottle of wine.
Liu bought a live snake and preserved it in wine to cure her rheumatism. However the snake was still alive after spending three months in an alcohol filled bottle. When Liu opened the bottle to add more spirits, the snake attacked her, Global Times reports.
This isn't the first time this has happened in China where snake wine is considered a powerful traditional medicine. In 2009, a Hubei Province resident surnamed Zhang was bitten after he attempted to make similar brew, and in 2001, a villager from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region died a day after being bitten by a snake "preserved" in wine.

Gun Owners Go Into Road Rage, Shoot And Kill Each Other
A road rage incident between two gun owners in Ionia, Mich. turned into a shootout, which ultimately left both of them dead on Wednesday.
According to witnesses, the first driver was being tailed too closely by the second driver. Then the first driver pulled into a car wash parking lot, which the second driver did as well.
Witnesses claim the driver of the second car started firing shots and the first driver shot back in response.
During the shootout, Robert Taylor and James Pullum were both killed, notes WZZM 13.
