No pictures on this tumblr yet. Says all you need to know.
Surely you just want a qr code on your cv so it links to your portfolio site?

If you do that make sure that the site is optimized for phone
- Fax_Benson0
is there any point if you don't even know what to do with it? Could be too gimmicky for a CV
- Fax_Benson0
That said, you could make a portfolio / CV app that downloads to recipient's phone

honestly, i fucking hate QR codes. If I was baller CD or HR, i'd be all like, wtf.

I wouldnt bother doing anything too clever with a QR code. Just have it on your (printed) CV with the QR taking the reader to your portfolio website if you have one. No point in taking them to an online CV if theyve already got it in front of them. Make sure you write a line of text saying it's a quick link to your website.
QR codes DO have their uses. Home "For Sale / To Let" signs are a great example. When you see one on the side of a building you can instantly visit a webpage giving you all the info.
We use them in home magazine adverts for property for sale / developments for a client. Analytics show that when we first started doing it a couple of years ago hardly anyone was using the codes but in the past 6 months there has been an increase.

Also most that read cv's sit infront of a computer so would there be a point, except to show that you can design for phone

There is absolutely no point in putting a QR code on something the receiver can pick up and take with them to a computer, unless it links to something really deeply buried in your site.

pointless on a CV - gimmicky. how long does it take to type a URL into a phone? seconds.
- d_rek0
I'll be perfectly honest here.
Since there is no native app that i'm aware of for either Android or iOS i rarely, if ever, decide to scan a QR code.
Scanning for QR's must be built into the native camera app for a given device if it's ever going to gain the traction that marketing and advertising wants it to.
Granted, i've seen some interesting things done with AR and QR codes but most of them have been gimmicky at best.
The reality is i'm not going to take the time or put forth the effort to open up a 3rd party QR app, scan, and wait for the result unless I can do it quickly and easily.

i got a very formal letter the other day that had a qr code on it.
i've decided they are stupid, so i refused to scan it. but the longer it sat there on my desk, the harder it was... so i gave it.
it linked to a youtube video of thriller. and it made my day. i ended up doing business with these fellas- because they had the professionalism to prove they were clean cut, but also are so unprofessional that they'd sneak in some personality.

it's easier to type in a URL

I'd concentrate on buying a relevant and memorable URL, or working on the SEO for your name so your site is the first result on google. Both of these things are more useful than a QR code and won't make your CV look dated. Plus they require less effort on the part of the user.

THAT'S THE ONLY SHIT YOU NEED ON YOUR RESUME. DO IT!
- bulletfactory0
People who put them on their resume's make my job easier of weeding them out.
Honestly, their such a fucking eyesore.
- ugh - they'rebulletfactory
- The plural of résumé is not the possessive form of résumé.i_monk
- yes, i am aware of the difference - my post was all kinds of fucked.bulletfactory
- jtb260
People don't use them. Don't bother with them. And if for some reason you do for god sakes make sure the webpage it goes to is optimized for mobile or I might actually try and kill you,
