QR codes on the internet, or something you are sending someone is pointless. there are other situations where they're useful.
Product packaging for instant coupons and data collection. Ad shells for links to promo websites. would you really pull at your phone and type in www britishairways com / summer special offer ?
QR's have been a massive part of everyday life in japan for years, well used they're handy.
old news, but interesting...

Isn't that whole thing over yet? Those things are fucking heinous, and every time I ever clicked on one, it just took me to a dumb website.

A marketing bloke I know thought he was being smart by changing the landing page for his company's site to a splash page with a huge QR code on it...and guess where the QR code linked back to?
The splash page with the fucking QR code on it.

The problem is that they are almost never used well. The marketing whore dif the world ruined it off tw bat. And I'd just as soon type in a URL than download an app and scan something.
I also dont want to stare at fucking qr codes everywhere, usefull or no. Ads are bad enough, it's just more visual pollution. There are better ways of syncing the digital with the physical.

we're actually working on a QR code using a clients product like those oreos and Heineken ones above but the problem is that it's going to be so huge you have to stand 60" away to scan it.

Personally I think they are a gimmick! Bloody hate QR codes all my clients want to use them and they are just a waste of time! I mean it doesn't take long to jump on your phone or laptop and type in the url. It's just a fad it will pass!
