Curious... given there are more guns in the USA than citizens... how would the Gov go about making them illegal / collecting them? Could you imagine the fucking bloodbath if the Gov repealed the 2nd Amendment and attempted a house to house collection from those not willing to give them up?
We are indeed fucked.
- Ban guns in Texas for starters?
Yeah...grafician - People could and would hand over illegal weapons as proven by programs where they tested it. And it wouldn’t be a blanket ban on all guns either.monospaced
- Point is, if you focus on the fact that it can’t happen all at once you might not do anything at all. Start with at least getting some guns removed.monospaced
- Then move on to stop selling certain guns. Maybe stop making them for sale at all. Baby steps.monospaced
- Government could buy guns and offer rewards. Don’t imagine there would be an expectation to magically get rid of all guns overnight. It would take decades.monospaced
- LOL mono
mate you can get a gun in many countries with the proper permit
nobody is stopping you
nobody needs one either around heregrafician - you guys are fucking clowns with this gun shitshowgrafician
- When you say 'illegal' guns are you talking about the massive lot not included in the official count sold on the streets?PonyBoy
- ...or are you talking about purchases that appeared to be made legally but may have been achieved via a loophole etc?PonyBoy
- I’m talking about the guns that might be deemed illegal at some point. I don’t think any are now.monospaced
- graf, at no point did I mention anything to do with acquiring guns in another country but thanks for the random and unrelated commentmonospaced
- My point is just that if we convince ourselves we can’t get all the guns we shouldn’t give up on at least trying to get some of them out of circulationmonospaced
- Otherwise we are indeed fucked. I’m just so sad that this keeps happening and it’s still too easy to go buy guns and ammo.monospaced
- If people do hoard illegal weapons, they will either not be used for crime or they will at some point. Eventually they will surface.monospaced
- what are you talking about you can get guns in the US at wallmart or something
why tf can teens get guns in the US?!grafician - We are talking about regulation. Read instead of asking what I’m talking about.monospaced
- Stop pointing out obvious and irrelevant points we all moved on from long ago.monospaced
- no, really, why teens are allowed to buy guns?!

- Other countries aren't really comparable given the amount of guns : citizens.
Example: USA is 120 guns : 100 people, whereas Canada is 35:100PonyBoy - I'm saying gun access is tiny in comparison... so yes - other countries are going to have far less than our shit showPonyBoy
- Some own none, others own 240...grafician
- Point being: you guys are fucking savagesgrafician

- but do you guys get there's nowhere in Europe or other civilized country where you get to walk fully armed into a school and shoot 20 peoplegrafician
- and we had wars and revolutions and lots of struggles, but no, nobody shot 20 kids straight up - maybe evergrafician
- Yes it’s a vast majority a strong element of white supremacy behind it at some level.monospaced

This is insane.
The killer was in there for 40 min.https://apnews.com/article/uvald…
Cops stood outside the school while the killer rampaged inside. Onlookers yelled at them to go in. They didn’t.
Javier Cazares, whose fourth grade daughter, Jacklyn Cazares, was killed in the attack, said he raced to the school when he heard about the shooting, arriving while police were still massed outside the building.
Upset that police were not moving in, he raised the idea of charging into the school with several other bystanders.
“Let’s just rush in because the cops aren’t doing anything like they are supposed to.”
- Texan conservatives are all talk, fucking cowards.BuddhaHat
- i guess its a surprise no many people, cops are not obligated to risk their own life. good guy with guns am i right!pango

The stock prices of the top 5 US gun- and ammo-makers rose the morning after a Texas school shooting that left at least 21 people dead.

Something I have never heard pro gun people explain...if the Second Amendment means no regulation of "arms" at all then where does this end? Does it mean Americans can openly walk around with Javelins and NLAWS like in Ukraine? Should anyone be allowed to walk to the store and buy weapons that can shoot down a small aircraft like Al Qaeda? How about chemical weapons, nuclear weapons...
The Second Amendment doesn't clarify any of this, it just says "a well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." At the time the most powerful weapon available to the average person were guns that were extremely primitive by today's standards.
As far as I'm aware none of the so-called experts on the Supreme Court have ever articulated any clear reason why some arms can be banned and others can't. One thing you would have to conclude is that the "founding fathers" were not exactly geniuses if they couldn't write this amendment more clearly, also they capitalize random words like a bad PR writer.
- I think most of the idiots don't make it past 'the right to keep and bear arms', wilfully or otherwise.BuddhaHat
- Biggest idiots think it’s a religious text and that it’s a god given right. The stupid is overwhelming.monospaced

Turns out police were on scene within minutes, fully armed with assault rifles and ... surprise ... did nothing. For an hour. Except taze and pepper spray frantic parents as they screamed in agony as their children were being murdered outside. Those cops have some serious answering to do.
- The primal screaming of parents for the cops to do something, anything, is something I can’t un hear.monospaced
- ShamefulYakuZoku
- Pretty much negates anyones argument that more cops protecting schools will help.monospaced
