You can tell it's a font. You might take the time to see that all those letters join. Not sure about the text being so close to the edge/ falling off. Can all that logo stuff from the top go to the bottom? How big will this print?
- big print, 33" x 45"
Totally agree for the fonts... thanksbenfal99

I'd say that width is more than enough to line the bottom with the logos from the top all side by side. that way you can move your illustration focus above the midway point and have the dark fade at the bottom instead of top.

Scale and align the logos would be my only gripe. Rest is good.

Totally agree on the font. I don't get why you used that one stylistically and its hard to read.
You also sort of have left justify, right justify, and center justified stuff on the same poster. Makes things confusing.
The margin on the top is bigger than that on the bottom. Proportions could be refined.

That text is really hard to decipher.

I find it a bit tough to know what the event is by the poster... it's a collection of Short Canadian films, correct? Who's the audience? Maybe throw a maple leaf in there (cheesy I know), if your audience is international, so they know that it is Canada which is 'not short on talent'.
As it stands, I don't know what significance that character holds (other than maybe being a Canadian)?... I'm just making stuff up now, cause I can't tell.
Great style though, I like that whimsical crafty look. It feels a bit like National Film Board stuff of old.
- maybe some background on the concept would help here?monNom

or throw in some mooses? or a beaver? lol, personally i don't think a maple leaf helps this poster work or not, for me i would say just keeping working at the title, you are on the right track it looks like, i feel like the title is too swirly, the tops of the letters swoop out too much for me, i also feel like the curve that the type runs along is too much somehow, i think the jon contino link is a good reference to see how he uses hand drawn type, keep working and refining on different versions you will get there, good luck!

also i find the most problematic of that font is the lower case t, i really feel this is the most confusing and also is where my attention is being held the most, the most distracting part, i think even if you could solve the lower case t would be a huge improvement

get a brush and some ink and try drawing it, maybe explore having one line bigger than the other or in a different weight, but i think it would be more suceessful if it felt more natural and less like a font, just my opinion but if i was you i'd spend a whole day doing loads of versions and having some fun! good luck

agree with albums' original point (*spit!*) - whenever you're using a fint in this context, you should always make the next steps to differentiate and uniquify the end result, otherwise it's just sloppy.
So, I now prefer your amended text - but the fact that it's a font is highly visible to me.
SImilar letterforms and bad linkages (u & a in 'court, for example).
In this context, fonts should be a base, not an end.

who did the illustration? would be best if the type was hand drawn in a similar style intertwining with the film rolls. maybe put the second line of text below the head if you're going to continue use type on top.
- fredddddd0
Did you draw it too?
- fredddddd0
Stop using crappy handwritten fonts.
Draw the type.
- benfal990
yes, i did the illustration.
about the type, the client wants to change the concept so i will stop working on type for now. He says he now want a bigfoot wearing a hockey jersey... I may change the type!

oh and thanks for all the feedbacks guys
QBN rocks!
