I updated.
I'm pretty much indifferent to it, really.
It's just a phone.- The spell has been broken..rouncey
- In all fairness, things like smartphones have never really touched my inner fanboy. Half Life 3's eventual release, on the other hand ...Continuity
- ... other hand ...Continuity
- If you're a designer, how can you be indifferent to it?? How can you call yourself a designer?iCanHazQBN
- Sick of this "it's just a phone" crap. It's something that's dictating how we work and design and layout websites....iCanHazQBN
- Because I know deep down there's more to life than design, interfaces and iPhones, that's all.Continuity
- and something that we look at for hours on end.iCanHazQBN
- Fair enough. The why be surprised to hear criticism of the design on a design forum then?iCanHazQBN
- The is one of the most appropriate venues to discuss and pick apart the details.iCanHazQBN
- I didn't say I was surprised.Continuity
- He just wanted to show everyone how cool he was for not caringset

Usability is great
Mail management is worse though. not quite as easy to delete and archive.
Some design is excellent like inside settings, weather, itunes etc.
Homescreen icons make my eyes bleed.change the icons on the homescreen, especially the circular ones and they will of done a great job.

Made me laugh how many people were complaining that their phone wouldn't update last night. I could just imagine them all dying to brag about having it...unaware of the reality that they would soon after be moaning that something does not work properly anymore.
People need to chill, like many said above, tis just a phone.

But it's not just a phone. It's the latest mobile interface design from apple. You guys jizz over this shit. ;)

i'll get used to it, though visually it seems many steps back - too much type, not enough attention to detail
item one: awkward spacing between "Mailboxes" and "All Inboxes"
item two:
layout fail with "Background App Refresh" getting pushed to the left by "General"item 3: "Background App Refresh" spilling out of it's background... is this really the Apple we used to know and love?
- pushed to the right...hans_glib
- Horrible. They need to DEFINE buttons by containing text WITHIN a button shape.iCanHazQBN
- It's hard to distinguish between what is a button and what is a non-clickable title.iCanHazQBN
- Yup. Needs more icon let's text.set

- yeah, this is the worst thing about it...kingsteven

Co worker shouting up from inside the toilet:
'It still works in the loo! Good enough for me'.

'Is this really the Apple we used to know and love?'
It is not.
This is what all the debate and response is about. All the people that boringly say 'it's just a phone' - it sure is, but most of us are designers here and Apple are/were one of the leading design companies on the planet. To expect more from them and to be interested in what they produce is somehow unexpected to some people? That's odd.

Steve would've thrown a hissy fit about this
This kind of lack of attention to detail would have never flown with him still around. These guys working right now at Apple don't give a rat's ass. Just like when they fired him, their product quality took a dive. It's happening again now. You're blind if you don't see this. Some of you choose not to. Though it's blatantly obvious to me. It may only seem like a small spacing issue, but it's a sign of crappier things to come for Apple's customers.
- this is a dialog that appears when you disable background refresh for all apps. took me 2 mins to find it FFSkingsteven
- That's an excuse to not sweat the details? It's all about different levels of standards I guess.iCanHazQBN
- < I agree. Jobs would have picked up on this and kicked some asspang
- i agree, but 99% of users will never see this dialog the rest see it once - everkingsteven
- King, you don't get it. This is a sign of things to come. We can already see that they don't care any longer.iCanHazQBN
- They're slipping bad. It will get worse and worse.iCanHazQBN

- Fuck. I wish I didn't fucking lost my phone 2 weeks ago.. Godammit!!ESKEMA
- totally, it really didn't work with the first few wallpapers i tried.kingsteven
- That calendar icon is disappearing tooBaskerviIle
- and the box around the safari iconBaskerviIle
- The Reference Folder is non-existant.iCanHazQBN
- Thats why it's necessary to have SOME for of shadow on the icons. This is why pure "flat design" fails for iPhone UI.iCanHazQBN
- YOU CAN SWITCH TO OLD BOLD TXT, ASSHATdoesnotexist
- Bold replaces the entire System with Bold dipshit. Are you on drugs or something?ESKEMA
- the only difference is that it will be Invisible Bold.ESKEMA
- doesnotexist, are you stupid? How would Bold lettering fix this issue?iCanHazQBN

^ What I cannot fathom is, didn't people at Apple TEST this stuff? Isn't that what you do when you create a product? You test it?
Hideous all around.
Look at the Games folder there with half of it smudged black. Gross, muddy interface.

I like it, especially on the iPad...
I didn't like the icons in the preview, but actually they make all the 3rd party icons look a bit shit.
I didn't like the blurred backgrounds, but I don't think that'll bother me... (changed my wallpaper from a solid to a photo and it looks a lot better) The new folders work really well, the 3 column grid looks grand when you have more than 3 items in there (which is usually the case), the wee Music controller with the flashlight and shit is kinda handy.
There's a new Snooze Countdown feature on the alarm for precision dispair.
The app navigation bars are the worst designed bit... but obvs they look grand with the extra space on the iPad.

Used to be able to double click home button, slide left to quickly adjust the display brightness. This has gone in iOS7, have they moved it somewhere else or do you have to open up settings?
Auto-brightness still doesn't work on the ipad mini
- swipe up from the bottom of the screenkingsteven

The reason this bothers me is because Apple was the only company that actually made products that you weren't embarrassed to have sitting around your house. Example: If you had a modern, beautiful living room and an iMac was sitting on clean desk in the corner, it would ENHANCE the setting, whereas something like a SONY or DELL would ruin it. Their stuff is THAT sleek and refined, and no other company came close. I fear that there won't be a company like that anymore and we'll have to settle for shoddy crap that doesn't reflect the sensibilities of designers, architects, and anyone else with a grain of design taste.
I think Google is stepping it up recently. There's method, reason, and consistency behind their graphics. They executed "flat" design very well, whereas Apple failed in their attempt.
- It's a funny old world. Google has surpassed Apple in design, I agree. They're new apps are lovely.set
- Apple's lack of "Pro" support bothered me until they updated logic and announced the new mac pro.inteliboy
- New icons and tweaked UI in iOS is far from my worries... in fact I am really liking it.inteliboy

Can we have a proper comparison to Android? People are saying iOS7 is shit, or it just looks like Android, or whatever the fuck else they want to say. I don't mind the update, but just like previous incarnations, it's simple and works well enough for you to get to the apps you need.
I like how Mac OS is almost transparent and just lets you get on with what you need to be doing. Does anyone think iOS delivers with this?- compulsive iconoclastic extremist aestheticists... for a better tomorrowkingsteven
