Anyone own an Olympus OM-D or a Panasonic GH4?
I need to get more into video and these are the best deals. The GH4 is the no-brainer, but the Olympus is nicer. The lenses are interchangeable, which makes it nice to have both (maybe).
Fuji XT-2 video looks interesting, but I am concerned it's a first gen effort and I need something that can have pro results.
Oh, and does anyone want to but a beautiful Nikon D800 and a pile of lenses?!
- check out sony a6300HijoDMaite
- If I was going Sony I'd be looking at the AR7 series. Not a fan of the range finder viewing. Thanks thoughformed
- Love my OMD EM-1. The MKII looks great but not great enough for me to spend the cash to upgrade though.sublocked

http://www.capturemonkey.com/bet…- ya i noticed. you took up my entire FB feed this morning... :-|HijoDMaite
- LOL ha sorry. I thought posting on the timeline would get grouped up automatically.pango
- I think only posting to album get's grouped up on other people's feed. i'm gonna do another test.pango

- i just started fucking around with the adobe ios apps, a lot of them post to a lot of social sites, & they sync to your main desktop apps too, pretty coolmoldero
- do you have to pay extra if you have cloud on your computer already?pango
- nope. it's free. it's what keeps me paying vs using pirated. lightroom uses smart previews. the only thing is localized edits don't sync. blemishes, &cjaylarson
- Better get on cloud then. o_opango
- I wonder if you can just leave your computer at home on. doing the edit over cloud. and export to your home computer dropbox location. and receive photos on youpango
- your phone and tablet.pango

this guy is selling a bunch of good gear for the Canon guys

- Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky (thank for the quiz Pango!) https://en.wikipedia…jaylarson
- He shot with different filters way back before color and would layer them so when light shined through, color would show.jaylarson
- A way to maybe achieve the effect would be to shoot multiple exposures then turn on and off different color channels and explore that way.jaylarson
- Gliche, on ios has some effects that are quite similar: https://glitche.com/…jaylarson
- You're welcome?pango
- Back lit. The light and the person are on the other side of the screen. Now that sharp line in the middle is a bit tricky.pango
- Easiest way to do it is with a projector. That way you can have crips lines. Otherwise any gels are all going to creat blurry lines.pango
- Or magenta gel right on the light and a giant blue gel with straight edge set up further from the lightpango
- And the double exposure that shit to get dark shadow in the middle.
Would be my guess.pango - Jay. I think with colour filter right on camera, you wouldn't be able to get that hard edge right in the middle.pango
- SHOPPED!pango
- yeah, that split in ze middle is le tough unless using a hard grad filter.jaylarson

I can't understand what the hell this guy is saying, but the photo sample looks good. Is this a good buy?

Which lens is better for fashion and product photography for the fuji cameras? The 18-55mm or the 50-200mm or another lens?
- wich Fuji do you have?Bennn
- looking at the x-t1pinkfloyd
- do you like to be close to the models or not?uan
- whichever takes better photospinkfloyd
- Always get a long lens for models. so 50-200. im old fashioned i think primes are better than zooms stillmugwart
- what about product photography?pinkfloyd
- Depends on how big is your product.pango
- 50mm+ plus for products as well. So 35mm+ on the fuji crop sensor.inteliboy
- (unless your products are cars and houses)inteliboy
- I would never shoot models with a long lens. no way to get good angles. Use the equivalent of a 24-70.formed
- I just sold my Nikkor 70-200 2.8 because it was worthless to me.formed

I'll be shooting a huge catholic wedding and reception this Saturday in MX.
Gear:
Nikon d7100
Yongnuo manual flash
Nikon 80-200 f/2.8
Nikon 24-120 f/4
Tokina 16-28 f/2.8
Sigma 50mm 1.4 ArtWish me luck I'm going to be a shit show with only one body.. :(
Oh and to top it off it's my cousin's wedding so I told her just to give me $100 for expenses.
:(:(:(:(:
- you got this man. one body will be interesting, but just have fun and get some shots.capn_ron
- keep the sigma on :Djaylarson
- I wish I could man but I can't be stuck at true 75mm the whole time.HijoDMaite
- Go rent another d7100.pango
- oh... $100....
she get what she pays for LOLpango - i'd stick with 16-28 and 80-200. so you don't have to carry too many lens. anything in between. just walk further or closer.pango
- Buy extra batteriesok_not_ok
- what pango saidSimonFFM
- I have two batteries. my plan is to use the long and the 50 for most of ceremony. Then bust out the wides to use with flash.HijoDMaite
- Double check if wide angle lens casts shadow in the photo when using on camera flash.pango
- its a big flash, a speed light not one of those compact ones.HijoDMaite
- Second body will be a huge help if it's only you. You cousin should cover the extra few bucks. I'd get a 24-70 2.8, but I don't know what the crop is.formed
- 1.4 will be good for detail shots, get lots of them. I'd think you'll need more than 1 flash, or skip it altogether (if it's all day, outside)formed
- Def. bring your phone if your one body fails. Weddings aren't really the thing to chance only having one body on. Even though they're paying you shit.BH26

Social Media marketer hitting me up for a quote on some flat lay photography gigs. Anyone have experience with these? Do you charge per Image?
Any ideas on what to charge?
As far as gear I think I have enough to get started, but I don't know if this is even worth my time.
- per image and then add on all other expenses: studio rental, equipment rental, gear rental, crew needed/cost, retouching, license time, etc. etc.lvl_13
- make sure you add some license fee.pango
- make sure you know their budget, my gues is that "social media" equates to "I don't have money for professional shots". Go for quantity, like 20 images for xformed

I wanted to comment on the fashion photography question pinkfloyd had. The most common lens I've seen is a 24-70 for my D800. That's what I use 99% of the time.
Get the 18-55 for Fuji for fashion. It's a 28-85mm FF equivalent. I'd get it with a fixed 2.8, if you can (dunno if it exists, I'm M43 and Nikon)
When I wanted super headshots I'd go to a 85 1.4 (gorgeous lens). I've seen this used for some fashion too, but it's less flexible.
If you want super wide you can do that, but 24 gets enough for me.
I never, not once, used my 70-200 2.8 (for fashion, for wedding and headshots it's good). No way to get close, can't change angle to be creative (models don't need the same angle precautions normal people do).
I just got a 25mm 1.2 for my M43 Olympus Em1-II and Panasonic GH4 (50mm equivalent). I also got the 24-70 equivalent.
I got rid of my 70-200 because I never ever used it (just too cumbersome and limiting for creative shots).
My 2cents, at the end you use whatever gets you the shot that you want.
Great resource for fashion (her lighting DVD is worth it too, though most of this was free when I learned): http://jointhebreed.com/whats-in…
She shoots with a 24, 85 and 105 primes (personally I am not skilled enough to limit things like that, 24-70 offers the greatest range...give me a 24-100 2.8 and I'd be in heaven!)

This has to be one of the most important videos I have ever watched. The wedding advice is very good, but it's way more than that.
If you have the time check it out!

One of my fave lens’ a fixed 50mm. What other kind of lenses are out there (fixed?) 38? And what does that look like.
Super ameture here. Hoping to find a cheapie can to knock around while cycling.
