Is there a way to color a vector graphic in Indesign?
It's an imported Illustrator file. I just need a solid fill.Even if there is, fuck Adobe for hiding it somewhere stupid.
- I think (but to lazy to check) if you import the ai through clipboard copy / paste it becomes a shape in ID you can color.
otherwise...edit original is the way.uan - That's amazingly lame considering there are about 12 filter effects, most of which I'll never use. Has anyone ever used the Satin effect?CyBrainX

Embarassing updates as alwaysgrafician - No much is new here but to be honest, I'm not sure what more I want Illustrator to do for me.CyBrainX
- There were some nice new features in Photoshop and After Effects.CyBrainX
- No new features, just optimize the shit out of it, that would be ENOUGH!grafician
- I just want better anchor point selection and manipulation tools... but no.shapesalad
- You can adjust selection and anchor display in Preferences. Change Tolerance and Snap to Point radius. There are several other settings in there too.CyBrainX

Adobe Wants Photoshop to Be More Like New Acquisition Figma
Photoshop, the company’s flagship image-editing product, will add more collaboration tools, artificial intelligence features and web capability as the creative giant aims to update its software portfolio for a younger and more-casual audience. Last month, Adobe announced it would buy Figma Inc. to try to capture some of the small businesses, social media creators and nonprofessionals who have flocked to the upstart maker of web-based design tools.
The updates introduced Tuesday at Adobe’s annual product conference symbolize the company’s efforts to streamline its offerings as smaller rivals like Figma and Canva Inc. threaten the software juggernaut’s market dominance. Adobe has responded with updates to its line of desktop creative tools and the introduction of a slimmed-down online Photoshop and Adobe Express, a web-based service that looks more like Canva than other Adobe products on the desktop.

They peaked at CS6, and they don't need to admit it because they don't fucking care.

- Kinda shocked Adobe (and Autodesk) have been able to buy up all competition. You'd think someone would be concerned with monopolies.formed
- that's what I was thinking formed_niko
- Don't worry, if its like their other products they won't change anything, just keep charging you for unspecified "updates"yuekit

- Had to happen... Adobe had no answer for the biggest growth sector in Design for the last 10 years. Legitimate existential threat to Adobe.jonny_quest_lives

Figma’s revenue this year was $81MM.
It still has steep growth trajectory, but nothing is certain in the world.
If revenue were to stay flat, it would take about 247 years to make back this $20B.
Note: I am aware that revenue isn’t profit, I am aware that growth is likely, I am aware that part of the $20B was paid in stock, I am aware that they may be trying to cull presumed losses.
Still, 247 years!!!
Adobe overpaid.
- Individually, investors are dumb. As a whole group, they generally are correct.nb
- More like a do-or-die situation for Adobe...
Exactly like when Facebook bought Instagram - existential threat.grafician - with any luck adobe will be forced to overreach themselves to sustain what is basically a pyramid scheme and will then implodehans_glib
- grafician-2
- Revenue and subscriptions were right as expected = no growth
Dropping $20B on Figma with low revenue (even if they had huge market share) was enough.grafician - Next Q gonna be a blood bath, start shorting now :))grafician
- A company that negotiates subscription fees over the phone basically bleeding money...

- "Undue reliance should not be placed on these forward-looking statements"
FUCK OFF ADOBEhans_glib - How can they accelerate growth? Adobe is slow AF and Figma ships faster than anyone. What a bunch of horseshitnb

From the email from Adobe:
"While we have been reducing our investment in XD, we will continue to support it. We are excited about Figma's vision for the future of product design and the potential of our teams coming together to benefit our customers"
Apparently XD will get axed

- This is now the default save option in Illustrator.i_monk
- a simple do not show this prompt again toggle in the UI but nooo Adobe wants your creative on their servers... FU I need to work locally.jonny_quest_lives
- they want users to save their files on the cloud so they can scrub the images so Adobe's AI image algorithms get better... Prove me wrongjonny_quest_lives
- it's just convenient...you can switch in preferences file handling if you prefer old school (at least in ps)uan
- Just set default location thanks! Still think there should be a set default dialog on that window so you can be done with it there.jonny_quest_lives
- I would NEVER trust anyone with my files on their server but I've been able to get adobe to stop asking me to save to cloud. There's a Don't ask again option.CyBrainX

- Pantone shooting themselves in the fucking foot again... No Adobe No Pantone... Let's fuck with the one software suite that actually implements our product.jonny_quest_lives
- fucking morons... then again the people that actually understand a pantone color is just a reference point for the printer and u need to mix a specialty ink andjonny_quest_lives
- run an extra color on press to get your "pantone color" which isn't really a "pantone ink" but just a color matched pigment your print vendor mixed to match thejonny_quest_lives
- Pantone the creative team selected from an 8 year old Pantone book are all retiring or quitting anyway so fuck it... Rip out the Pantone Libraries.jonny_quest_lives
- Let;s get our users to save their creative on our cloud so our AI team can scrub it for or Neural Filter offerings for 2025 when we really wow our user basejonny_quest_lives

Fuggin Adobe and Pantone! Just saw a notice in InDesign pop up stating "Some Pantone colours may no longer be available due to changes in Pantone’s licensing with Adobe".
Apparently we now need to fork out an extra $60 a year (to Pantone) to fuggin access the Pantone colour library in Adobe products.
Further info says... "Pantone’s licensing with Adobe was adjusted. Due to this change, customers will need to purchase Pantone Connect licenses to access Pantone colors in Adobe Creative Cloud products."
Wow! Fugg those khents!
- How was that a good decision for Pantone and Adobe? Surly it was in both parties interest to come to an agreement.shapesalad
- so if we have the Pantone swatches IRL we can't pick colors 'cuz Adobe CS doesn't have the colors anymore?!
Unrealgrafician - Wut? Just make a spot colour swatch, call it whatever it is in the book and the printer will do itsausages
- that's a DTP hack, not a "feature" in 2022 in the main apps for fucking design
Adobe is openly adversarial to its users now!grafician - Not a hack. If you spec your Pantones from Adobe swatches on screen and not a book you're doing it wrong.sausages
- LOL
And I suppose Adobe isn't reducing its pricing by 60/yr to compensate? Fuck them.Continuity - ^ this ofcgrafician
- Yeah, this is shit. Hard to believe it's not entirely megaCorp Adobe's fault, although given how much Pantone branding I'm seeing on landfill tchotchke...Nairn
- ...perhaps Pantone's business model's fairly fucked. Quite why there isn't a viable OS equivalent for coordinated colour specs, I don't know.Nairn
