I'm curious to know about the drawing experience. The ipad styluses are all shit, and I don't want to pay that much for a portable cintiq at this point.

I do like the concept of a device like this. I've been doing a lot of travelling this year, and using a touchscreen device is a lot more convenient. I have an iPad, but it obviously doesn't give you the full desktop experience.
My main question would be how usable it is without the keyboard, because once you attach a keyboard you might as well get a small laptop IMO.
- Seeing as it has the specs and ability to run a full Windows, I assume it is quite usable without a full keyboard.monospaced

The pressure sensitive stylus is what's making me interested.
- Asus had a great one with a wacom digitizer last year, sadly discontinued.http...monNom

I am waiting for the i7 model. Frustrating the delay is so long, I've got a ton of trips I'd prefer not to lug my laptop around on.
The stylus reviews have been very positive - great response, great hand writing recognition. Looking forward to seeing how it all works.

Microsoft is offering up to $650 off of the Surface Pro 3 if you trade in your MacBook Air.

So, did anyone buy one?

Great tablets...

I'll be buying the i7 when it comes out. I'll be sure to post stuff, don't worry. :-)

I tested out the stylus, and it was ok. I'm leaning towards the galaxy note pro 12 now for drawing, not as a laptop replacement.

"Microsoft continued to lose money on its Surface tablets throughout its just-concluded 2014 fiscal year, adding hundreds of millions of dollars in red ink and boosting total losses to $1.7 billion since the device's 2012 launch"

Makes sense to attack the best selling laptop in ads, I suppose.

I have. Someone I know just got one. So far, it is amazing and makes my iPads look archaic and overpriced (if you take productivity into account).
A real shame MS took so long to come out with it, if they had anything like this way back when I would think they would have a pretty large percentage (better functionality, software, etc., only drawback is the apps, but you can use real programs, so can't see how that would matter, at least for me...I don't care for more than a handful of apps).
MS would be smart to offer the keyboard for free, though. If they can hang on, I think this will start to change the tablet world.
- I thought you were buying one.monospaced
- I am, trying to figure out if I really need the i7, ain't cheap stuff (for any i7)formed
- wanna buy my iPads? :-)formed
- fuck the iPad :)
the last thing I need are more fucking screensmonospaced - Ha. Yup, exactly. If I can do the tablet/laptop as one device that eliminates 1 unnecessary screenformed
- It is quite a bit more expensive than ipads though.CygnusZero4

I'm a bit torn between the surface pro 3, galaxy note, and the cintiqs.
I like the idea of having a portable desktop with the surface pro where I can archive all my research with the ability to take notes and draw.
With the cintiqs, i'm not sure if it's worth paying extra for the more levels of drawing pressure. With the larger screens, i'll have good real estate for drawing but there's that gap between the tip of the stylus and cursor. Also, they are bulkier.
With the cintiq companion hybrid, i'd get the best drawing experience but at a higher cost for a smaller screen that I'm not sure I can seriously illustrate on.
There's the galaxy note pro where it's the cheapest option, and wondering if I should go the cheap route since non of these items are a must have for me at this moment.
- can a galaxy note even run photoshop?monospaced
- Nope, but there's alternatives and lighter photoshop apps on androidpinkfloyd
