6/10... see it in a theatre that can handle the sound... else all you hear is score and no dialogue (saw tonight in an old New England theatre... horrid seating / cold / drafty / terrible sound... :(

Saw it tonight.
Kept thinking about Gravity.
Even though this one has an okay, quite predictable plot, I was entertained and didn't hate it as much as I thought. It touches some cool concepts and that robot is way cool. Plus I'm a sucker for sci-fi post apocalyptic end of the world type scenarios. Definitely a better watch in the movie theatre, the sound design was cool.- Was it depressing?
Going to check out during the weekorganicgrid - Not as depressing as i was hoping. lol One thing though, I do think it was cast wrong. Something about Hathaway and McConaughey that does not say scientist to me.sea_sea
- and McConaughey that does not say scientist to me.sea_sea
- okay he's not a scientist but a pilot. ;P over all i liked it.sea_sea
- Hathway's character was very unsciency and the worst part of the movie. I din't think it was her fault.CyBrainX

Saw it this morning. Really liked it, I'd say 8/10. I didn't expect the ending to be what it was. Thoughts >>>> so as to avoid spoilers.
- Spoilers>>>mg33
- I really thought they'd never return to earth, and they'd get a colony going, and that somehowmg33
- the black hole / gravity info would make it back to earth, who would start sending communications about figuring out the gravity challenge.mg33
- challenge the professor had been working out for years.mg33
- I never understood what the "Gravity Challenge" actually was. There were some confusing parts with inaudible dialogue.iCanHazQBN
- Maybe it meant making more money than Gravity did? ahahahaiCanHazQBN
- But they did get a colony going, or at least that was implied by him leaving at the end to find anne.sea_sea
- Yes. They succeeded on both fronts. Earth and Anne's planet.CyBrainX

It was really silly when, while approaching the wormhole during the mission, one of the astronauts had to explain to the commander (Matthew McConaughey) what a wormhole was by doodling it on a paper. You should probably know what a wormhile is before you start a mission to go into one! And his co-pilots had the entire length of the trip to Saturn to explain it to the him, yet didn't care to do so until the last minute. That part was so dumb.
And bad casting with McConaughey. Just not believable as a scientist.
Otherwise a good movie. I saw it in IMAX.
- And its a LONG movie. So go pee beforehand. Or just bring a tube with a plastic bag like I doiCanHazQBN
- It kind of reminded me of AI, it just kept going and going they could of stopped it at the bookshelf imo.sea_sea

^^^^^^^^^^^^
You know why he wasn't believable as a scientist?BECAUSE HE WAS AN ENGINEER AND PILOT, not a scientist...
- That's what I meant. He's not believable as those either anyway.iCanHazQBN
- sea_sea threw me off by calling him a scientist a couple notes above.iCanHazQBN
- Gotcha! I thought he was decent. He'd be pretty chilled out being a farmer for so long.mg33
- Yep blame me! lol sorry you get what i meant.sea_sea
- all your fault. always is.iCanHazQBN

**spoiler alerts do not read----
They were so many wholes:
1. Why did they need rocket boosters initially (when leaving earths orbit) but when once they reached the exoplanets (which had stronger gravity btw) they could whip in and out of planet without any problems in their dinky space craft?2. How does a gigantic 5 mile wave form in two feet of water?
3. And the ending when daughter says "go find her". By the time he got back wouldn't he be like 300 years older than anne hatheway?
4. Falling into a black whole... seriously???
5. Why send Matt Damon when a probe could do the same job if not better?
I guess you can't apply critical thinking when watching these movies.
- They also could have stopped it at the book shelf, morse code watch deal. bringing him back was a bit too much. then again, many directors think there always has to be some kind of a happy ending. just let the guy go! let his daughter create what she needs to.sea_sea
- many directors think there always has to be some kind of a happy ending. just let the guy go! let his daughter create what she needs to.sea_sea
- what she needs to. but i shouldn't complain, it was entertaining to think he was going back to find anne.sea_sea
- I agree bringing him back was too much.hotroddy
- the waves were presumably caused by the tidal forces from the giant black hole the planet was orbitingsarahfailin
- ahh..Good answer.hotroddy
- Boosters off earth conserve fuel for the rest of the mission. duh.BrokenHD
- black holes can make for some pretty intense tidesBrokenHD
- who knows what kinda relativity is at play here. black holes wormholes. yo no seBrokenHD
- 5. humans make better choices apparentlyBrokenHD

Saw it today. 8/10
I really liked it. Saw it in IMAX, wich is a must i think. Some scenes are really impressive. If you dont know about or are not interested in wormholes, blackholes and metaphysical stuff, you will not like it.Hans Zimmer music is perfect.
I was like a kid watching some of those scenes. I want to see it again for sure.
I was expecting more scenes in space and more lyrical space stars galaxy spaceship stuff like 2001. But we're not in the 60's anymore, i guess Hollywood dont want to destabilize people too much, sadly.
Its a really good movie. Nolan is one of the best at the moment.
- seriously. i saw it with someone who knew nothing of spacetime, relativity, black holes, wormholes, etc.iCanHazQBN
- Every 2 minutes I had to explain something. Kind of annoying.iCanHazQBN

8/10 I very much enjoyed it.

The movie was good. The science was not as good. I'm waiting to hear what NDT has to say about it in his interview with Christopher Nolan to be released on http://www.startalkradio.net/
Settling planets that are orbiting a supermassive black hole? Such a terrible idea for so many reasons. Re: hotroddy's comment
Plus, why a whole 'nother galaxy? We got plenty of planets in our own galaxy.
- None of them are habbitable..inv
- But there were some science holes yes (in the name of entertainment)inv
- non habitable? do we even know how many planets and solar systems we have on the milky way?ernexbcn
- "Milky Way contains at least 100 billion planets and between 200 and 400 billion stars"ernexbcn
- cuz we has wormholesBrokenHD
- The wormhole was a shortcut around traveling to another solar system which could take more than a human lifetime.CyBrainX

^ Kip Thorne was a consultant for the movie, so I'd say the science of it should be sound (I haven't seen the movie yet)

"And bad casting with McConaughey. Just not believable as a scientist." -iCanHazQBN
He wasn't a scientist.
- benfal990
And don't forget, it's a movie.. with a story. It's not a documentary. Of course everything is not scientifically right.
- benfal990
I think McConaughey is pretty good actor. He's very good in Interstellar.

I loved it. And if you can suspend your cynicism for once, it can make you feel like a kid.

Just a question,
is this a Christian approved movie?- No, even cynics would admit there are way too many facts for Christianity.CyBrainX

"Plus, why a whole 'nother galaxy? We got plenty of planets in our own galaxy."
Whoever put the wormhole near Saturn, I don't think "they" ever intended us to start populating new worlds on the other side. None of those planets were meant for life.
The stupid, vain, desperate humans took the wormhole as a chance to start ruining other planets.
But I think the real intent of the wormhole was to lead us to a blackhole, so we could understand and analyze (and maybe even send a crazy person into it) to give us a better understanding of gravity.
