React + native development. Its a great keynote once you can get yourself past the diesel nightclub appearance.

building my first native app...
Another photosharing/social thing.On front end:
- ionic/angularJSOn back end:
- Node
- Express
- Mongo/Mongoose
- Cloudinary for image storage (they have a free plan that allows upload of 7500 images per month)The back end is built like a pure json API which the front end (devices) use for authentication, saving, and retrieving data.
The platform I'm using for hosting the node app is called OpenShift.
There is a free plan that allows you to set up 3 applications, does all the provisioning, and DNS stuff I don't care to do... and best of all has a git workflow... plus a super easy set up

Most of http://www.qbn.com/topics/577702… is this instrmntl; Perhaps a "dev resource of the day" thread?
; )
- yeh that thread is great, but It would be cool to have a web dev discussion / tips threadHombre_Lobo
- Trying to keep the "of the Day" threads to a minimum. (;instrmntl

Here's another article on React:
- I'm back in the bad old days of [now defunct] XHTML strictness were all this stuff's concerned - WAY above my headdetritus
- Thank God I don't do this full-time any more - I'd be feeling very old, stupid and redundant...detritus
- ..er.. sorry, I meant this in reaction to normal react.js, backbone and angular. Light years above my pay-grade :|detritus

those of you who have built stuff with angular and meteor etc, what are you using as a cms? How is the client getting the data into the apps?
I've been looking at meteor and want to play with it soon.

Also, seeing the trends:
2013: Backbone
2014: Angular
2015: React http://facebook.github.io/react/…

I wouldn't start doing anything now with Angular until the new version shows up. React on the other seems to be getting good comments.

Look up the rest of videos from React.js Conf 2015 in youtube.

^^^ Meteor is probably fine if you're only targeting browsers.
However, if you have a data source that will need to be accessed from ios, android, or whatever -- Something completely decoupled seems to be the best approach.
With Sails, I've just setup a simple REST api that is used to handle data without any connection to the front end. It simply takes a request and responds with data, or an error. Easy for anything to consume.
I don't know enough about Meteor to say it doesn't do that. From the docs, it seemed like they intend for it to be an integrated solution.
As far as learning curve, they're probably pretty equal. Angular is actually pretty intuitive. Form validation is so easy, I cried tears of joy when I made my first form.

this react shit is starting to grow on me. It's the next thing on my priority list.

So anyone have info on how to get data into it from sort some of CMS by clients?

I plan on doing stuff with React.

Haven't heard of react. What is it? Is it to build dynamic HTML interfaces? Something like that Pharrell Williams Happy Campaign right? Any good reads on it?

What about post modern?

I'm using Sail.js (Node.js) for backend work and Angular for front end. Although I'm still in noob stage with these technologies, the workflow is a breath of fresh air compared to my usual PHP/Jquery stack.
Angular 2.0 is set to drop this Summer, and it looks really promising. They've pretty much rebuilt the whole thing from what I can tell. So, none of the 1.x stuff will port, but the performance is supposed to be better, and a lot of the issues with the current version are fixed.
React looks pretty interesting too. Man, there are SO many javascript frameworks out there now. That's the only problem with this stuff. What to roll the dice on?

I want to jump on this things, I'm still a noob in JS but I can hack my way around. I'm kinda leaning towards Meteor because it does back and front end. What do you guys with more expertise on the subject recommend? I heard Angular has a more steep learning curve. What would be the most optimal choice from a less expert point of view?
