why is that chick accountable for the digital security of a firm that's large enough to be reported about when its online presence is interrupted for an hour, when she doesn't even know what a rootkit is
- Well, she's in charge of a security contract, not a tech person, but you'd really expect her to have a basic understanding of security at the very least.kalkal

Loved the instrumental version of "Where Is My Mind" at the end of episode 9. A bold and unapologetic tribute to the movie which was a big inspiration for the series.

One of the best shows of the year. Mind tripping half the time.

USA Network is delaying the finale of its hit “Mr. Robot” due to a scene similar to the shooting in Virginia

so far this is the best theory I've read
"The monologe in the begining of the show goes like this:
What I’m about to tell you is top secret, a conspiracy bigger than all of us. There’s a powerful group of people out there that are secretly running the world. I’m talking about the guys no one knows about, the guys that are invisible. The top 1% of the top 1%, the guys that play God without permission. And now I think they’re following me.
So there's a twist here, behind these words, and it's that he's referring to hackers.Lets break this down:
What I’m about to tell you is top secret ... -- We all know someone is pulling the strings behind everything. This is a common thing to say in our day and age. It isn't really top secret. The story of fsociety hence forth is, however, top secret.... the guys that are invisible. The top 1% of the top 1%, the guys that play God without permission -- hackers are virtual, they are not physically there. They can earse any trace of their presence while in a system, invisible. There are few of them out there, a fraction of a fraction of the population. We see in this season how Elliot uses his powers to control the life of those around him, and fsociety plans to do the same on a global scale. Playing God. My favorite part: permission is also a computer term.
And now I think they’re following me -- The black suits are his body guards, sponsored by fsociety. Elliot probably never told anyone in fsociety he hired them. This is why they never attack him or take him away, and are so blatantly obvious about following him. Fight club had similar goon characters, and they would also not speak to the leader directly, even when addressed angerly, out of respect and understanding of the pecking order."
- I like thisRamanisky2
- Precisely. You are the only other person i have seen to get this, my friend. :D
Johanna is Mary Magdalene.rabbit - We are witnessing the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Elliott is JC.rabbit

Loved the show until the last two episodes and then...
Well, SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!
Thought it was way way too of a direct rip of Fight Club. Sort of cheapened the entire show for me.
- the show was actually first a screenplay, and the first season is just the first act. esmail says the story is "about someone discovering they have a disorder"colin_s
- that's also the premise of Fight Clubfuturemongolian
- muh fight club ripoff,
team of 5 hacker vs cross country goon, causing mahem throughout the country vs targeting one corp, etc etc, did we even watch the sameGeorgesIV - dad = tylerJeremyhead

He's the Dexter of the new millennium!
Except that Dexter had that hilariously awesome 80s cop-show vibe in the first couple seasons.
- ernexbcn0
@GeorgesIV it's the same thing:
- Fight Club: destroy credit card history, reset society (by bombing the credit cards / banks HQs)
- Mr. Robot: destroy credit card history, reset society (through hacking)
Mr. Robot's hacker dad = Fight Club's Tyler Durden
The even acknowledge the influence by playing "where is my mind" at the end of the episode where the guy realises his dad and the interactions with him were imaginary.
It's a great show but I saw this coming since the 1st episode.

haha, having watched Fight Club the other week, I was more than a little horrified to see how much was 'borrowed'.
Oh well, there's still the second season...

I think this show is ok, but not great. Very average, in my opinion.
What is surprising to me is how many people post online about the similarities to Fight Club. Does everyone not realize how big of a spoiler that is?
