Have you heard the theory that Rick is aware that he's on a tv show?
It's related to the theme from the car battery episode.
So Rick created the Microverse, his car battery. Inside is a Miniverse and inside that is a Teenieverse.
The show itself is a micro-verse created by the shows creators. Rick is aware of this and thats why he is a drunken depressed guy that works extra hard to go on entertaining adventures and uses catchphrases while breaking the 4th wall.
Because he knows if he isn't entertaining, if he doesn't fulfill his meaningless task, the show will be canceled and his universe will end. Like the car battery guy.
Anyway, cool thought.

- How sad is your life that you'd waste hours standing in line at a reverse garbage dump for some movie tie-in dipping sauce referenced on a cartoon?i_monk

Sooooo... I just realized something.
A lot of the ideas and storylines from Rick and Morty are direct rips from Star Trek. I'm talking no denying, straight rip-offs.
I'm currently doing a binge of everything Star Trek and just finished the next generation series. Dude, its all there.
Not saying I don't love the show, but kinda takes away from the awesomeness a bit.
- Star Trek is like Simpsons. When you have done so many episodes you eventually covered everything.pango
- Agreed, but R&M are straight up taking their ideas from there. Im not talking lightly, Im talking whole episodes. They just have their own twist.sofakingback
- Was there an episode in which Capt Kirk turned himself into a pickle to get out of family counselling?Ianbolton
- YES! IT WAS EPIC! Instead of a pickle he was the Borg. Still killed rats tho.sofakingback
- Could you maybe pull together a quick youtube video about your findings. With clips n shit.Hayzilla

- Shit , shoulda wrote them down. I can go through the episodes and see which ones I remember. There's all sorts of stuff...sofakingback
- like this rant about love and chemistry is word for word what bones told Kirk in an episode. https://www.youtube.…sofakingback
- Star Trek (TOS) straight up ripped a lot of stories from sci fi authors back in the day.i_monk

I am not too enthusiastic about what they did with episodes 1 and 2 of this season. Seems like they're crumbling under the pressure to live up to previous seasons.
Allowing rick to die multiple times in episode 1 seems like a bad idea to me. Now there's nothing at stake ever again for Rick. The show seems like it's ready to reverse itself at any time, and now nothing can be trusted.
The whole fascist-Morty in ep 1 to me felt like the writers telling the viewers they were fascists for making them write another season... if that's how they feel about it, they should probably just not.
- Rick has died so many times in the show already. I'm pretty sure the ones we follow aren't the originals either. The dying was to make a super meta point.monospaced
- It's a cartoon, they can do whatever they want, not everything needs to have a hidden message, just enjoy itfeel
- There’s an entire planet of just Ricks. A counsel or Ricks. An infinite number of Ricks and Mortys. Nothing is at stake. He can start over. That’s the plot.monospaced
- i love itApeRobot
- i think they pretty much said it at the end of episode 1. they're gonna do whatever they want and it might not have any meaning to anything.pango
- I've never been worried about Rick dying. Firstly because it's a cartoon and secondly he dies all the time and has an infinite backup. That's the whole thing.Hayzilla
