- The whole GOP narrative of "HEY HEY LET'S PLAY NICE" is so infuriating.garbage
- True to form. "Healing" means sweeping it all under the rug, just like a good wife is encouraged to as an option to keep her husband out of jail after he beatsmg33

- So strange that just about every republican talking about 'dividing the nation' voted to invalidate votes to keep Biden from office. Like that's not divisive.mathinc

I wonder does Trump have something on Pence. His loyalty seems a bit OTT at this stage, no?
- well it could be Trump or it could be the same people who have something on Trumpdkoblesky
- His loyalty is probably entirely based on his desire to keep his donors.nb
- Pence is a career politician and knows that invoking 25A loses him any chance at The Office in 2024/2028.noRGB
- it could be that he truly believes that the 25th is unwarranted, and he has that right.monospaced
- If democrats want to do this right, they have to play by rules too.monospaced
- At this point it's probably about saving the party rather than Trump. By calling the 25th he/they would be admitting guilt in a way. But I'm no expert.palimpsest
- The pussy dems also have to expel all the GOP treasonist senators and congressmen who betrayed the constitution while they are at.utopian

The Republicans keep saying the Democrats are dividing the country by trying to impeach the President.... Are they dumb? The President divided the country himself like never before... he's the cause of all this.
Its a real mad house

house is voting now. So far only 9 republicants voted yay
- Trending towards Impeachment 2 — The Insurrection.MarleyMarl
- the vote is ending now (after almost an hour), with 3 min left and 10 republicans voting Yeamonospaced
- @Marley, unfortunately, not even close to the 2/3 required to impeach. It was never gonna happen.monospaced
- mono, that is in the senatetank02
- @Mono, what tank said.MarleyMarl
- Right. We know the senate won't get 2/3 either.monospaced
- robotinc3
Its official, he's a two time loser!
- No it isn't. The vote did not impeach him.monospaced
- They would have needed 286 votes to impeach. They got 232. Shy of another 50 Republican votes needed, minimum.monospaced
- The vote did impeach him. It did not remove him from office.yuekit
- House impeachment is simple majority. Senate removal from office is 2/3.akiersky
- mono...study up.
The House impeaches...which they have done a second time.
The Senate hears the trial and votes to convict or not.BusterBoy - No shit. But if the senate doesn’t convict, it’s not a true meaningful impeachment. Just like LAST TIME he was fake ass impeached.monospaced
- If you can be impeached multiple times without any consequences. Is it impeachment? I’m not so sure.monospaced
- grafician3
- I think it's time for you to Google Impeachment in the US and then grafsplain to Americans how it works now, because you got it wrong. Again.monospaced
- @mono but when I got it wrong first?grafician
- Do you guys want to try again?
Maybe you get it right the 3rd time lolgrafician - hahahahahsted
- Haha. Says the guy who just learned about american politics this month.monospaced

The Constitution requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate to convict, and the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office.
They got 53% and not the 67% required.
- not the senate, that is up nexttank02
- well that sucksGuyFawkes
- this was theèhouse of represantativestank02
- This was the House not the Senate. It's true that the Senate probably won't follow through on removing him. But he has now been impeached twice.yuekit
- You're right. I stand corrected. This vote drafts the articles where the senate will surely vote and have the same result.monospaced
- I'M WRONGmonospaced
- vile republicanstank02
- What else can the Democrats (and the apparently tiny minority of sane and responsible Republicans) do in such a situation? The ball is now in the GOP's court.yuekit
- Dammit mono, you should've let me grafsplain it for you buddygrafician
- The Senate needs 2/3 vote. It won’t happen. This isn’t really the impeachment people wanted.monospaced
- Fake news.palimpsest
- It's 2/3 of senators that are present, some Rs might think it best to stay home and let him be impeached: https://www.washingt…zarkonite

@mono: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Se…
"Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States, was impeached for the second time by the House of Representatives on January 13, 2021. The House adopted one article of impeachment against Trump: incitement of insurrection. He is the first U.S. president (and the first holder of any federal office) to be impeached twice.[1] Trump’s impeachment came following his alleged interference in the 2020 presidential election in Georgia and alleged incitement of a deadly riot that involved the storming of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. by his supporters.[2]"
- He’s not found guilty. End of story. This wasn’t the final decision.monospaced
- I don't think anyone said that he was. You were pretty adamant that he was not impeached, again. He was. End of story.MarleyMarl
- Senate decides if he’s guilty of charges.monospaced
- House vote does nothing.monospaced
- Ok, thanks. Again, don't see anyone mentioning charges or guilt. I only see the mention of him being impeached and you arguing that fact. Again, end of story.MarleyMarl
- Lol @mono. Let it go mate :)))scruffics
- It’s all about the charges. This drafts them for senate to convict or not. This doesn’t actually do anything significant.monospaced
- Trump wasn't impeached, Antifa was impeached.palimpsest
- I guess my point is that this doesn’t really do anything. It includes no punishment or sanction of any type. No consequences even.monospaced
- LOL @ mono. Is the horse dead yet?MarleyMarl
- LOL no. Because this impeachment does nothing. It’s just a meaningless vote.monospaced

He'll probably triple down and go for a Hat-trick! A week left is plenty of time for him. Haha!
- Plenty of time left for him to go back to NY and actually shoot someone in the street.face_melter
- He probably has a tattoo of the names of the Central Park Five.face_melter
- dkoblesky1
The fact that he may or may not be convicted until after Biden is sworn in works to *maybe* moderate his behavior over the next week.
He has to know that doing more shit will definitely make that happen.
He WANTS to be able to run for president again...and have all those other perks
- Maybe.jtb26
- The thing is that with you, me, any normal person, having the prospect of a conviction would make us sit on our hands, because we know it would benefit us.Continuity
- Trump — clearly having a personality disorder of some description, probably NPD — has zero impulse control.Continuity

I hear his voice saying: "I've had by far the most impeachments ever - a tremendously yuge amount of impeachments! Like noone has ever seen before, believe me. People are talking.. I got the best and greatest impeachments of all time!"
- BusterBoy4
I wouldn't rule out the Senate convicting Trump after Jan 20th. I think there's plenty of Republicans that want to remove the Trump stain permanently and ensure that he can never run for office again. I'd say maybe a 25% chance he gets convicted.
- They need 2/3rds of whoever is present, if enough republicans just don't show up it could go through. Politically that might be the R's best move...zarkonite
- https://www.washingt…zarkonite
- Yep. "Oops sorry...I forgot to show up".BusterBoy
- "Oh, that was today? My bad."Akagiyama
- Not letting him run again is a big deal. No one wants him back in politics....no one.dkoblesky
- I don’t have high hopes not after what I saw today.monospaced
- Trump just cost the party a lot of money, I have as high a hope as I've ever had... so about 50%.zarkonite
