This whole concept of the president being able to unilaterally pardon whoever he wants is kind of ridiculous if you think about it. Even when used for a good cause it basically just points to a failure of our justice system. Better to fix the problems then give someone dictator-like powers that will be abused.
Even weirder is this idea the media talks about that Trump can issue a "pre-emptive pardon." So he can pardon someone for something they haven't even been charged with yet?

What's worse is that so many of these people he's pardoned are ones who were convicted of financial crimes. Many of them, no doubt, people who could / should / would be classified by Trump's poor and middle class supporters as the "elite" - the very people they're supposed to despise, distrust, etc.
