I’m afraid that this might actually mark the beginning of it, yuekit. Trump enabled many millions of people and set them on this path of misguided nationalism and deep mistrust of anything that disagrees with trump, including the FBI, Supreme Court, CIA, senate and congress, every mainstream media entity that exists, and of course the entire Democratic Party.
I wish I could be confident that Biden’s first day would mark the end of anything. But these crazies are still yelling “the best is yet to come” and don’t seem deterred in the slightest. In fact, they’re more riled up than ever. It’s gonna be YEARS of this and extreme reactionary rejection and gross demonization of anything that the new administration does. They’re convinced beyond the shadow of a doubt that Biden and Kamala hate this country and will ruin it. As long as Trump lives they will continue. And it will live on beyond his death, I fear.
- Just find it funny that America derailed itself so much over Trump, a con-man who doesn't even hide his grift.PhanLo
- It's mind boggling. Go onto the Fox News facebook page and look at the comments on any article. It's incredibly telling and frightening how misguided they are.monospaced
- I know that it's complicated for you at the moment, but I sincerely hope that all this will calm down a bit and that people will realise Trump's incompetence.D4W33D
- but I understand very well your apprehensions Mono.D4W33D
- I "hope" for the same thing. But this isn't me being apprehensive about anything. I'm describing reality as I see it.monospaced
- Not just a con man, the guy is a reality TV star FFS lol. How did anyone ever take this seriously?yuekit
- I know...D4W33D
- My one hope is that he has pinned his entire existence on being a 'winner'.. tomorrow will make it certain for a lot of his followers that he actually lost.mathinc
- Hopefully, a large portion of them loses interest in him once that reality sets in.mathinc
- Trump was their leader who enabled them to bring the flags out. They always had the flags, Trump just tickled their tiny wee fascist balls.PhanLo
- There are always going to be right-wingers and people with authoritarian tendencies but I also think people are pretty malleable.yuekit
- I remember when American politics was defined by whether you supported or opposed the Iraq War, now you can't find a single person who admits to supporting it.yuekit
- So in that sense having Trump on TV and in the news everyday has had a really corrosive effect. Take him off TV and maybe things can start to improve.yuekit
- His supporters already turned on him. They are on their own trajectory now. It’s sick.monospaced

Mono,
That is what I've been dwelling on far too much. It took decades to get us here, with all sorts of factors at play: continued and growing racism, abject destruction of quality public education by Republicans in power at the federal, state, and municipal levels, the growing divide between the poor and the rich and the middle class stuck in the middle that are prone to blaming the wrong villain.
It will take us decades to change course. As a parent of little kids, that depresses me so much. We're all in a pot that is boiling more than ever before in this country, with far too many choosing the side of those who choose to use their supporters and play them for total fools, only to the benefit of those in power.
I know I've said this before, but the recurring thought that frustrates me endlessly is that these people - the Q people and rabid Trump supporters, the militia people, etc. - their mentality is that they're protecting America from something internal, but they never realize what their actions do externally. We look so weak, we look so lost, we look so divided, we look so ripe for being exploited for all of this.
Is that patriotism? Is that exceptionalism? Is that "winning?" Is that pride?
I just can't imagine demonstrating so much visible weakness to our adversaries. My mind just can't compute what a thrill that behavior is and the irony of what it projects.
Suffice to say, I've never been as scared for this country as I am these days.
- I hate it that you’re 100% right mg33.Ramanisky2
- You're in a fine mess for sure.D4W33D

Donald Trump's pettiness apparently knows no bounds, because Joe Biden isn't getting what Trump himself got ... a government aircraft taking him to D.C. for his inauguration.
... Donald Trump was afforded this courtesy when he flew to Washington on January 19, 2017, the day before he was inaugurated. Also
-- Trump hasn't called Biden to congratulate him on winning the election
-- Trump has not invited Biden to the White House
-- Trump has offered tepid cooperation in the transition, making it much harder for Biden and his team to prepare for the ascendency to power.
-- Trump will not greet Biden on January 20th for tea at the White House before Biden heads to the Capitol
-- Trump will not attend Biden's inauguration
- "pettiness"? the man is a total cunt. simple.renderedred

“The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people and they tried to use fear and violence to stop a specific proceeding of the first branch of the federal government which they did not like,” Mr. McConnell said on the Senate floor Tuesday.”
