BJJ is a sport meant for competition.
Kung Fu is a street fighting style.

I've practiced both so much respect for both. Martial art is all about body mechanics and what works for you.

In my case, living in NYC, I'm not interested in BJJ ground techniques. Kung Fu works best to injure quickly and leave quickly.

    • true. Kung Fu Wing Chun is quick and effective and totally destabilizing.Ben99
    • there is a reason mixed martial arts like pancrase, pride, and now the ufc are dominated by bjj practitioners, and those competitions are about as close to a stgilgamush
    • *street fight as you are going to get, bar the real thinggilgamush

    • thats nice, why don't you set the record straight thengilgamush
    • BJJ is awesome, but last thing you want to do in a street fight is go to the ground. One attacker sure, but if he's got a group of friends you're fucked.IRNlun6

it's weird to worry about legal concerns in that matter, you should rather worry about the act of killing someone.
First, I don't think it's that easy, even if you think you learned some techniques to accomplish the task.
Second, if you manage to kill someone, could you live with that burden?

rather focus your training on knockout techniques...

First uan, i dont want to kill anyone. Second, my school dont teach deadly technics. But some moves could lead to unintentional death of the oppenent. Like i've said, i dont think i will ever get into a fight since i'm an expert at not getting into trouble and avoid any confrontations.

My concern was IF one day, I ever get in trouble and have to use my technics because i feel i'm in danger and can't escape, if i accidently handicap someone or kill someone accidently, would i get into trouble with the law. Forget the martial arts here, could happen to anyone punching another person.

I dont plan to use any kind of force against anyone. Like i've said i'm a pacific person ;-)

    • if you ever get into real trouble, use your fu, and use it without any fear and effectively.
protect yourself with anything you got.
      uan
    • and don't let the fear control your fu.

i'm more a karate guy, but I think control is central to all martial arts
      uan
    • if you focus on the arts you don't have to worry about the laws, you'll be fine.uan

If you ever have to use your skills, please do a Neo impersonation before the fight!
