I like it! started watching it when I read the news about them moving to Amazon Prime and I binged it, good stuff

So what sci-fi are you chaps watching during the painful seven-day wait between Expanse episodes? Anything good? Recommendations?

Syfy Says This Season of The Expanse Will Be the Last One on the Network

Idiots.
- Damn.
Well, let's hope Netflix picks it up.Continuity - Firefly again?eryx
- Haha, I was thinking the same.Continuity
- Happens every fucking time a truly great sci-fi show comes along. And this one is vastly superior to that POS Discovery.Continuity
- it's hard to say where it can go really. storyline pretty much came to an end at the end of s2hans_glib
- You know it's based on a 8 book series right?i_monk
- Is Summer Glau in this show?CyBrainX
- Is this really worth comparing to Firefly? Honest question.monospaced
- There are thematic similarities and obviously they're both set in space largely about characters on the run, but that's about it.i_monk
- it's time to close that channel.
lol@Firefly i don't think so, Expanse is dark, slow and heavy, Firefly was optimistic and easy to and consume...sted - I don't think the comparison to Firefly was meant in the creative or executional sense, more so the fact it's a popular sci-fi series being cancelled.Continuity
- Oh. I see. I was hoping the comparison was about the obvious fact that firefly was fucking amazing and was canceled prematurely, killing one of the greatestmonospaced
- potential sci fi series in decades for no truly good reason. My question was really this: is the expanse really as good as firefly?monospaced
- Apples and oranges. Firefly was a light-hearted romp with self-contained 'problem of the week' episodes. The Expanse is a dark-ish serialised thing ...Continuity
- ... which is completely different from Firefly thematically. Both are excellent in their own contexts, and can't really be compared to the other.Continuity
- That said, both employ similar a conceit, with the evolution of language being a mish-mash of all sorts of things to form a sort of patois.Continuity
- This applies to Belters, though, not Terrans or Martians (Expanse), whereas in Firefly it's used throughout.Continuity
- Damn.

Right.
Binged this, and I'm all caught up.
Overall, I like it. It can be ponderous in stretches, exciting in others. I can see influences of BSG; as well as Firefly, in the way some of scenes on the Roci play out.
I'm pretty pissed off that they offed Miller; he was easily my favourite character.
The under-secretary's voice makes me want to curl up into a ball and scream, it's so fucking annoying.
Alex is cool, though, I really like him.
Bobby started off being annoying, but I actually started warmimg up to her in the last couple of episodes of S02.
Definitely looking forward to season three.
But: they fucking killed off Miller. Cunts.

great show. the world needs more good sci-fi shows like this.
hbo star trek reboot?
- over CBS' rotting dead corpse, lol. they just won't let go of the franchise! I'd love a fresh take on Star Trek with some of the style from The ExpanseBuddhaHat
- shit. wasn't aware they had the rights.doesnotexist
- Star Trek Discovery premieres this year. CBS in the US, Netflix most everywhere else.i_monk
- damn, the trailers aren't impressivedoesnotexist
- They haven't released a trailer yet, just a teaser cobbled together two hours before ComicCon last year. Shooting ep 1 just wrapped yesterday.i_monk
