In the first Alien, humans arrive on some fucked up planet and come across a spaceship, a bizarre alien spaceship... the design and culture and everything inside this ship is insanely alien... It is one of the very few, if only films ever made that truly feels like you are experiencing something that is ALIEN.
But now, by the end of these prequels, Alien is going to be so much smaller and boring... "Oh yeah, that thing is just a spacesuit for a big species of white dudes". "Yeah that alien is just a weapon created by a human android!" "Oh thats how that spaceship crashed!" "oh that's who Ripleys mother was!" etc etc etc.

Awesome locations, brilliant cinematography and terrific art production, very suitable for the big screen. Imo, it's a big yes, get your tickets!
Katherine Waterston may be able to take care of the role much like Sigourney Weaver. Nice approach to the genesis of the xenomorph. I really enjoyed the whole thing.. even some ridiculously gore scenes. It is a very well achieved tribute to the franchise, at the height of Prometheus, with clear references to the old movies, and Ridley Scott's signature all over it.

- From my perspective, I'm gladdened to hear it's not shite out of the gate.detritus

I hope this brings back more of the tension of the original movies. Prometheus was a decent sci-fi movie, some cool visuals, but the writing could have been better, and even the directing.
There was that scene where they bring the engineers head back to examine. Seems like a pretty fucking profound thing to be doing right? Well the main character who found the damn place, that younger guy who ends up getting infected, was just sitting on a table in the lab room drinking a bottle of wine and had no interest at all in that head. WTF? Terrible directing. He should have been so excited at that moment.
There was a LOT of that in Prometheus. Characters not having a proper reaction to really incredible or scary things, like theyve seen it all many times before. I hope thats fixed in this.
- Welcome to Hollywood 2017fadein11
- only non-cringe Sci-fi for years was Arrival (and that had some close moments) - script by committee unfort (led by non-creatives).fadein11
- There was a reason he wasn't excited. And you either didn't understand why or completely missed the scene why he explained it.severian
- cheap tom hardy was drunk on champagne, swimming in anything and everything. i guess heavy drinking normally dulls the excitement for a thoughtful scientist.helloeatbreathedrive
- lol they are on a foreign planet testing an alien head for the first time in human history. and hes drunk and doesnt care?? come onCygnusZero4

I'm still on the fence with this one. I am enjoying the trailers and teasers but I loved the trailers for Prrometheus and the levels of disappointment for that film were at Crystal Skull heights.
As a wise man once said:
- You mean Temple of Doom |v|9000teh
- lol at Crystal Skull. So true.detritus

With all the Alien Hype I'd recommend playing "Alien Isolation" if you haven't tried it already (it came out in 2014).
Unlike all other alien games its mainly inspired of the first movie, so the design retro and chuky. You can't kill the alien, only hide from it, distract it to go somewhere else or at the most scare it off for a little while. Generally if it sees you, you are dead. Its very tense experience. You can get it for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Linux and Mac.
- It looks good, but stressful. Not my kind of game.CygnusZero4
- I'll get this when I eventually jump on the VR wagon, then likely never ever use VR again..detritus
- Its possible to mod it so the alien ignores you if you just want to stroll through and look at the design: http://www.moddb.com…Nutter
- ^ ooh, this may well be the only way I can play this. My 16yo niece loves this game but I get the absolute fucking fear within the first 10 minutes.face_melter
- Is there something similar for the Working Joes? I seem to remember they fuck you up as well - or only when provoked?face_melter
- Face_melter: yep this one makes should make everthing non hostile: http://www.moddb.com…Nutter
- Cool. Thanks - i'll check it out.
