Anyone here play mario+rabbids? Im tempted to buy it, but idk. $60 for a game that sounds like it has no replay value is a little worrisome, but the game is getting great reviews. Seems like its similar to advance wars which I loved.

    • if you dig XCOM get iternexbcn
    • I've heard its really great, go for itNutter
  • scarabin_net0

wish there were more games... once i beat zelda and mario kart, there's nothing left that interests me until metroid comes out :/

    • same, but i haven't played mario kart so it's just been a zelda machine so far..SteveJobs
    • you don't want the mario game coming in October?ernexbcn
    • the 1st party lineup has been great given the thing has just 6 months in the market, get 3rd party gamesernexbcn
    • i'm down for a mario game... the rabbids thing looks dumb thoughscarabin
    • rabbids seem like a french version of crazy frog or somethingscarabin
    • Mario odyssey next month will tide you overset
    • yup scarabin get Odyssey next month it will be greaternexbcn
    • Steamworld dig 2 should also be greatNutter

    • I am so tempted as well, but $60.. damn...Fabricio
    • i keep telling myself by paying $60 i'm investing in the success of the console. seems like some nintendo projects kind of peter outscarabin

The game is getting great reviews so I have a feeling it will sell well, but who knows. Even for me who loves games like advance wars, I wasnt sure if I should spend $60 on this, but I dont regret it at all. I hope others pull the trigger too and support it so it turns into a long term franchise bc it deserves it.

The game is VERY well made. And for nintendo to allow a company like ubisoft to use their characters, which they pretty much never do, that tells you all you need to know about what they thought of the potential and quality of this game. Its a genre you cant find on the switch, but its of the same quality as nintendos own games like breat of the wild, splatoon 2, mario kart 8. Fits right in with them. Super well made tactical strategy game.

    • it also has local co-op if you want to play with someone at home or on the goernexbcn

    WHAT THE HELL

some dude at a stable said i could treasure inside hyrule castle so i went. i was derping around killing guardians and lynels for loot and next thing i goddamn know i'm fighting goddamn ganon. i've only done two divine beasts!

    don't fucking go there!

i was trying to stretch out this game and now the credits are rolling!

    • You should know better than to talk to strange men in stables.face_melter
    • lol you must be good at batting fireballs back at gannon. if the game has any merit, you should get a better ending for completing more parts of the game...sarahfailin
    • Member when they said at duh beginning sat gannons there?cannonball1978
    • same thing happened with me :/ just started over with pro mode hud and not activating any towers or doing any of the divine beasts.SteveJobs
    • What just happened here?Hayoth
    • i accidentally beat the game :(scarabin

I think I'm gonna buy the Switch today. Target is selling near my house for just $300 (I've seen it for $359 on Amazon) and has them in stock!

    good bye daylight!

    • yeah, finally seeing them at retail consistently :)monospaced
    • when you go, don't let anyone talk you into buying the pro controller, you don't need one :)monospaced
    • ^ok!sarahfailin
    • I ended up buying one cause it's a nicer controller when playing on a tv... but you don't NEED one.ben_
    • I bought one, but started playing with the joy-cons it came with right away. Ended up returning the unopened pro controller and got $70 back.monospaced
    • Lots of people said the included ones weren't any good for large hands, but it turns out they're just fine.monospaced
    • (I'm not saying the Pro controller is bad, btw, it's probably amazing)monospaced
    • let me know how you get on sarah. I am so close but keep pulling back. I know my eldest will love it and we will play together and the little one will also soonfadein11
    • but do I want more screen time for them. I know I can limit it but its another battle in the house that can be avoided. Having looked at it all properly todayfadein11
    • and looking at Mario odyssey I nearly bought. Will have a think again over the wknd. I used to buy most consoles and were not used that much after the initialfadein11
    • novelty - just when friends were round. as an adult have never been much of a lone gamer.fadein11
    • it's not even a big purchase though so I should just fuck it and keep it for myself hahafadein11
    • You don't need the whole console to be fairset
    • Eh? genuinely don't know what you mean? so don't bite back pls.fadein11
    • Why is it $299 on their website but almost $360 everywhere else?notype
    • It's people (enterprising assholes?) still cashing in on low availability with inflated prices.monospaced
  • sarahfailin2

Yuppp I bought it! However right out of the box the left "Joy Con" control stick was not working! so I had to return it and get another.

Now it's working! After I finish some work, I'm gonna start on Zeeeellldaaaa!

  • sarahfailin5

ok. 4 hours in and the game is beautiful. definitely borrowing from hayao miyazaki in both music and visuals if you ask me. and that's a very good thing.

in the second "land," which is immense, i found a horse and bum rushed some demon guys on horseback. club to the face, troll guy!!

    • Nice! I turned off the Pro HUD and went exploring. Totally went off the path and started completing shrines early. Now I'm finally going to the village. Hahamonospaced

Playing steamworld dig 2 on the switch. So good! Metroidvania heaven. Also got picross, one of my all time favorite puzzle games. Played 100s of hours of it on the 3ds.

  • ernexbcn0

I'm playing Thimbleweed Park on it, enjoying it a lot. Will get steamworld dig 2 next. Then Odyssey.

  • CygnusZero41

Im on the verge of saying that steamworld dig 2 is probably the best single player game on the switch aside from zelda. Its THAT good.

I played the first one and liked it but didnt really find the actual playing through the world to be that riveting because it was all procedurally generated. Games like that seem to have this repetitive nature to them. Nothing stands out, but here it was ALL handmade, everything is where they placed it, like how metroid was made, and man it is soooo much more interesting this way.

The game really keeps surprising you, and has such a great sense of advancement as you keep finding upgrades that make it easier to navigate the world, and also just make it more fun the more you play. Excellently designed gameplay loop. Its pretty much perfect. This game is even better than that new Metroid game on 3DS, which is also very good but not quite on this level.

    • And its only $20. Buy it. Support them so they keep making more.CygnusZero4
    • Thankfully they game is getting excellent reviews so hopefully that will keep sales going.CygnusZero4
    • Thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out!monospaced
    • Was thinking about getting this... you just made up my mind for sure!dee-dubs
    • looks great! i was worried it would be procedurally generated. that shit gets boring quick. thanksMilan
  • scarabin3

some snaps from my time in hyrule

i mounted this thing twice but never was able to tame him. fighty little fucker:

    • waaaaht! you can ride a bear??? I haven't even seen a bear yet!sarahfailin
  • notype0

Weird thing is that you still have to purchase video games (and they are upwards of $40 – 50+ ea).

    Why not play on Cloud?

Not being a smartass ... genuinely asking.

    • It's not weird that aren't free. Cmon.monospaced
    • gamesmonospaced
    • what? digital vs physical?Milan
    • Because games just magically appear and don't involve hundreds of man hours. Right?face_melter
    • Also latency. Not everyone has fast internet and a lot of titles require quick reactions - Sony has a live service but it is limited and the cost is high.face_melter
    • I'm over having physical music these days but still want a physical game for my console. Not sure why...set
    • i hate inserting game cartridges, discs... so i usually buy digitalMilan
    • True mono. Not as familiar with games today, my fault. Been out of the game for a while ;)notype
    • lol, to catch you up: games still cost money, they aren't free :)monospaced
  • autoflavour-2

just picked up one today.. came with mario+rabbids..
that game is so boring. ugh.

fucking infinite cut screens and dialogue.. and the game play just isn't engaging.

also.. big part of buying this was for the parental controls.. which are welcome, but why on earth did they then take away the pin code restrictions on individual user acccounts? so fucking stupid. everyone has to be same parental levels ..

what do they think we are going to be buying a different Switch for each family member?

    fuck that.

lift your game .. excuse the pun

    • also so many fiddly little parts.. I predict this system lasting less than a year with my kidsautoflavour
    • If you use it primarily as a console you can maybe prevent destruction for awhile.monospaced
    • yeah, hope so.. I doubt it tho.. Felix loves the wii u for the handheld screen, once he realises he can play it anywhere, it will be in his bedroomautoflavour
    • get the $8 screen protector kit (glass) ... it should at least keep scratches off the plastic display. I got one and I'm glad I didmonospaced
    • Tell him if he takes it out of the living room everyone he loves will get cancerset
  • scarabin_net2

    • this game is pure art.fadein11
    • nice. you finally mounted that thing. totally reminds me of princes mononokesarahfailin
    • yeah, that thing took a couple wheels of staminascarabin_net
    • I saw one of those big dudes in the first capture there, off in the distance. I only have 5 hearts. Why did I go after him? LOL, fucking love this game.monospaced
    • wow that's some crazy armourinteliboy
    • haha mono. i think they're the toughest enemies in the game tbhscarabin
    • good to know!

A couple of upcoming games for fans of Advance Wars:

    • Wargroove looks like a fantasy skin of Advanced Wars. I like that faster gameplay than what Tiny Metal seems to be.BabySnakes
    • i liked advance wars :)sarahfailin
    • I'm sure both will have the option to skip battle cinematics, just like Advance Wars didMilan

After a long day of work yesterday, I sat down for a well deserved Zelda session, docking the Switch and snapping the Joy-Cons into the comfort grip. A minute in I encounter some enemies, engage in battle and realize instantly that the L button isn't working. Then I realize that the minus (-) button isn't working either. Zelda session officially done.

The Nintendo support site is directing me to submit a repair request and ship the parts back. I start this process, but it's not going through correctly, so I call them. Long story short, Nintendo is sending me a new left Joy-Con immediately, and isn't asking for the broken/defective part.

I bought a Pro Controller on Amazon, and should have one today.

    • What baffles me is that I baby the hardware. No drops, no mishandling. I'm super careful, so having a malfunction only a few weeks in is very disappointing.monospaced
    • Yeah, things randomly break sometimes for no reason. Who knew!CygnusZero4
    • There's always a reason.monospaced
    • Nintendo hardware is designed to take a beating won't function properly if treated gingerly.i_monk
    • Try dropkicking it into the wall, I bet that'll fix it.i_monk
    • :)monospaced
    • did you restart the consiole? that's worked for me in the pastscarabin
    • is that the same as powering it off and on? lemme google that :)monospaced
    • I did a full hard shutdown and reboot. Still doesn't work. Anyway, the Pro controller I got is great, and the replacement Left JoyCon is coming tomorrowmonospaced
    • Long story short, if you have hardware problems with your Switch, just call Nintendo and they'll hook it up!monospaced

steamworld dig 2 is good, I recommend it.

    • +1, I got it after seeing Cygnus' glowing endorsement... wasn't feeling it at first but after a while it clicked and really loving it now!dee-dubs
    • I almost give up like once every hour but then i make it through. Surprised how much i like it. Some of the hidden things are really hard to find.err
    • I don't know if its cos Im shit at games, but some of the levels/puzzles are really hard.. although hugely satisfying once you do crack them!dee-dubs
    • it's a perfect game for short bursts, I'm loving iternexbcn

New software update (4.0) is out and it adds a few features and fixes - most notable for me: allowing wireless headphones.

Well, headphones that have a USB dongle such as the Sony gaming headsets. Initial notes said it was docked mode only, but a few people have managed to get round it by using a USB-C to A adapter.

Steamworld Dig 2 is a work of art but also something i wasnt expecting: Golf Story. if you played any early era NES or SNES golf (hals hole in one with my dad was so fun) you will like this. its basically a classic rpg where the battles are games of golf. :P love that you can just drop a ball wherever you are and smack it wherever you want.
