- After the Branson launch, kinda felt weird that there was no on board footage of this.kalkal
- And if you thought that Bezos felt Invincible before...utopian
- Is he back already?nb
- Space race is ON again!grafician
- @kalkal Branson is a showman and his flight was about marketing. Bezos is a tech guy and his flight was about capabilities.grafician
- ....and Musk?kalkal
- ^Musk is both, he first sent his car to outer space to show off and will be first to reach Mars as he actually can do it.grafician
- Still I'm surprised there was no on board footage even with that considered, it was presumably a conscious choice to keep it a private experience.kalkal
- I'll put the champagne back into the fridge.sted
- The whole event was cringe afGnash
- Watch out, Graf. You'll trigger the Musk haters!lemmy_k
- musk's cock is 10 times the sizehotroddy
- Waiting for babydick to make his comments in 3...2...grafician
- Branson and Bezos are vain, rich guys in pursuit of space tourism and ego stroking. Musk at least is doing a variety of beneficial things...mg33
- ...Starlink project, sending people and gear to the space station, inventing new rockets.mg33
- Not sure how I feel on the Mars thing, but it's far more inspiring than Bezos / Branson and their "product" that only the richest of the rich will ever enjoy.mg33
- @mg33 people laughed at Bezos before in early Amazon's days, so never say never with this guy. But this flight was indeed cringe afgrafician
- *grafician was therested
- If you think Musk isn't some vainglorious spoiled brat that lucked into a shit ton of money, you haven't been paying attention.garbage
- He's not the brains behind any of his projects. He's the ego born with a massive wallet.garbage
- instead of spending his family fortune like most spoiled brats do, he increased it 100 fold, in engineering and science. don't be so resentful.hotroddy
- he could of turned out like loser heroin addict like hunter biden riding on his dad's coat wings to sell his childish art.hotroddy
- "Don't be so resentful" says the person with the saddest hard-on for Hunter Biden.garbage
- only trying to help. much easier to be resentful of a no talent hack who's only success is because of daddyhotroddy

The net worth of JeffBezos
is about $200-billion. A stack of that many dollar bills would reach twice as high as his Blue Origins Rocket launch.- Can we not "polute" this thread with the likes of Bezos? One post about it was more than enough.
And he only lasted about 2 minutes so enough with this shitgrafician - okey sorry, i didnt know there is the jeff bezos posting police around here .. ;)neverscared
- Well he went to the place called space today. So it stays.monospaced
- Pretty sure he just went to the upper atmosphere for a couple minutes, so not actual space space, but okaygrafician
- But space is the place.monospaced
- They went miles outside the atmosphere. Fully into outer space. The place they went. Today.monospaced
- Then tell us mono how exactly they didn't burned in that dinghy capsule on re-entry?grafician
- Because they didn’t come in fast obviously. They were mere miles out so the re entry was incredibly gentle vs coming back from higher orbit. Obviously.monospaced
- This means there was very little friction in comparison, and no risk of burning up as a result. I thought this was obvious to everyone.monospaced
- But that is irrelevant. Because they went to space by leaving earth atmosphere completely.monospaced
- mono everyone knows they didn't went to actual space, get a grip and stop your ignorant comments lolgrafician
- can't believe even you fell for the "marketing" smh...grafician
- Yes they did. Not sure why you’re even saying this. Yes. It’s marketing. For a trip to space. The place they went.monospaced
- Nothing I said was ignorant. You were the one ignorant to how re entry burn works not me. You’re also ignorant to the boundary of atmosphere apparently.monospaced
- Fun fact: not even the ISS is "outside the atmosphere" so practically not in "outer space" at over 200 Miles out.
Google these basic facts, will you?
Damngrafician - These people went to about 50 miles out, same with Branson, that's suborbital flight so in no way they were in no danger or in actual space for all purposesgrafician
- have you even seen the rockets SpaceX uses to send a crew capsule to the ISS?
@mono at least look for some basic info before arguing next time...grafician - here wikipedia updated the fucking pages: https://en.wikipedia…grafician
- here from NASA https://www.nasaspac…
all the data
where exactly do they "left the atmosphere" or "fully into outer spgrafician - This is the last time I'm arguing with you on anything, you clearly have some knowledge about *some* things, but overall you're at college levelgrafician
- The ISS is outside of our atmosphere. Of course it is. Everyone on it is in space.monospaced
- Every space agency recognizes this. It's in the books as fact. You are wrong, and I'm glad you won't argue anymore, because it's ridiculous.monospaced
- Oh, and your wiki post? FIRST sentence says it's outerspace. Oops.monospaced
- It doesn't have to go into orbit to be space flight, it just has to leave the atmosphere, which is about 60 miles up.monospaced
- Still laughing at how you were so ignorant you couldn't figure out why it didn't "burn up" on re entry. LOL.monospaced
- In the meantime, you should write to every newspaper on the planet, and national geographic, and let them know they're all wrong in their reports. LOL.monospaced
- I'll rest easy you won't argue with me anymore, because that's what you promised, and it's good, because you won't make a fool of yourself anymore.monospaced
- Can we not "polute" this thread with the likes of Bezos? One post about it was more than enough.

I ordinarily don't get into whataboutism crap, but I'm thrilled with the blowback that Bezos is getting. Twitter has been lighting him up this morning, but this was the breaking point for me:
Bezos says he thanks every "Amazon employee and every Amazon customer because you guys paid for all of this"
https://twitter.com/geoffrbennet…
This is how people speak when they’re out of touch with reality. The Amazon workers begging for livable wages and better working conditions, and the Americans who would love to see the richest of the rich pay their fair share of taxes might have something to say of how they “paid for all of this.” What a deluded creature Bezos is.
I now wonder if Bezos' $100 million given to both Van Jones and Chef Jose Andres was pre-planned, or a reaction to that blowback.
- He also donated $200M to the Smithsonian after or the same day as Branson's space flightgrafician
- https://edition.cnn.…grafician
- That's good to know. But seriously, is he making those donations because he realizes the perceived absurdity of his pursuits?mg33
- Again, I try hard not to be the whataboistist guy because I rip on people all the time for that exact reason...mg33
- so I hope Bezos' donating this money means it ends up doing something to benefit as many people as possible, notmg33
- some here and some there if they're lucky enough to have exposure to it.mg33
- Amazon has supply chain and rapid delivery down to a science - what could they do with quality food delivery to schools?mg33
- Personally, I'm more impressed by someone aiming to use their wealth to help as many people as possible with the resources they have, thanmg33
- I am by a guy going to space for a few minutes and not even getting to float around unstrapped from his seat.mg33
- Ofc the donations were just PR lolgrafician
- Also no, Amazon is not the only good retailer. Our local "Amazon" is EMAG which has even same day delivery and other stuff. Probably others in other countries.grafician
- I know they're not the only good one. I'd just like to imagine a Bezos character as hellbent on doing world-changing stuff that impacts as many people asmg33
- People saying "Amazon is the best" are people who never experienced anything else maybe lol
Bezos is also like majority of white tech billionaires cringe afgrafician - possible as he is about going to space for a couple minutes. Not to downplay space... but I think you get what I mean.mg33
- Former Microsoft's Ballmer is another case in point and so ongrafician
- The world needs it's icons and heroes and all that, but shit's pretty dire these days and we could far more easily rally around things that benefit a wide swathmg33
- humanity.mg33
- Sure, if you need a hero go for Elon, then NASA or whatever. But no, not cringe billionaires like Bezos.grafician
- Yep, totally agree. Elon's doing amazing stuff irrespective of vain space "tourism."mg33
- fun fact: Romania was one of the few countries in Europe to have a real astronaut Dumitru Prunariu https://en.wikipedia…grafician
- Now, Graf, if you want to use Amazon to buy the best fiction ever written about an eccentric billionaire and how he spends his money, go buy this:mg33
- Our Dumitru spent a week in space. He is one of our nation's heroes, humble and nice guy, then I guess yes, having someone like that helps for space inspirationgrafician
- https://www.amazon.c…mg33
- Also if you really wanted to experience zero g, you can do it much cheaper lol
https://6abc.com/zer…grafician - Damn what's with the downvotes?!grafician
- @mg33 About Elon, pretty sure whenever he is asked about SpaceX new ventures, he always mentions "our team does this, our team does that" while...grafician
- ...while everything about Blue Horizon launch had Bezos name all over it, everything was a PR stunt lolgrafician
- Also thanks for the book mention man, but no, never used Amazon and never will hahagrafician
- Go buy that book somewhere else then. It's my favorite. The movie has Ringo Starr and Peter Sellars, but read the book first.mg33
- Ringo from that crappy band The Beatles?! Nah
But Peter is class, thanks!grafician

I seriously couldn't be less interested in these narcissist tools going for a joyride to the edge of space for a couple of minutes. Big deal.
Get back to me when they go into low earth orbit for a few days...
- This.grafician
- What if it blows up? You might miss outGuyFawkes

- Space walk or it doesn’t count.monNom
- I'm mostly surprised they're actually doing it. I wouldn't step foot on a spaceship if I had their net worth.timeless
- I guess my question is - would u risk it all if you were in their position?timeless

Interview with Dr. Virginia Wotring, professor at the International Space University in Strasbourg and researcher for NASA.
Viginia’s current research involves examining the changes in physiology and pharmacology that occur in the confined, closed, microgravity, elevated radiation environment of a space mission. Her work ranges from the molecular level to that of the whole human, and includes a wide variety of techniques and collaborations.
