CORONAVIRUS: Pfizer vaccine found to be 92% effective in Israel, with those vaccinated eleven times less likely to be infected with coronavirus.

Society in the Time of Plague
It may feel as though we are living in unusual times, with all the strange precautions we have been forced to adopt to try and contain COVID-19, but plagues have afflicted humans for thousands of years. The novel coronavirus is a threat "both wholly new and deeply ancient," according to Nicholas Christakis, professor of social and natural science at Yale University, and the author of "Apollo's Arrow: The Profound and Enduring Impact of Coronavirus on the Way We Live." Tapping into his experience as a hospice doctor in the early days of his career and his expertise in social networks, Christakis explains what it will take for citizens, leaders, and societies to work together to get through the current crisis and what we might expect when it is finally over.

this is funny... sorry just in german.. but it says in a hospital in southern austria they use mainly cbd not thc succsessfully for covid patients and it decreases the infection in the blood much faster than the group without using it.

WTF is wrong with people?
Protests shut down the Los Angeles vaccination site. Does this mean it's ok to hold them down and force them to take the shot now?

I remember seeing this on a TikTok last year, but literally have no seen anything about it since anywhere..
but this doctor worked out that patients on ventilators were struggling to breath due to mucus blockages in their airways..
and by using a suction during a bronchoscopy, the patients who were on life support were breathing normally 2 days later.yet somehow 5000 views only
- its not stopping Covid, but it does help people who are potentially going to die from it..autoflavour
- Part of the increase in survival rates was the realisation that ventilators were typically doing more harm than just lying patients on their front.Nairn

- I don't know how accurate any of this is. Weinstein says 90% chance it escaped from lab...based on what? I like Bill Maher but he has a history of dabbling inyuekit
- pseudoscience from time to time.yuekit
- Weinstein says diseases can jump from animals to humans but human to human transmission is suspicious...where does he think SARS 1, MERS, Ebola, H1N1 came from?yuekit
- These are valid questions; i think it's just another perspective on things from 2 well educated folks.ideaist
- smart guys BUT covids was found in blood samples in the US in Oct, and in Italy around the same time.pr2
- and oh my God, the interviewer is a moron of comic proportions.pr2
- Well you know, it could have leaked from a lab slightly earlier. Or even a lab in the USA, which I'm sure China would like to believe :)yuekit

- Weinstein is a IDW hack. https://www.nature.c…garbage
- Virus leaking from a lab is definitely not impossible, it's happened before. But you gotta ask why he feels the need to go into misleading stuff like pretendingyuekit
- Tough crowd.ideaist
- a virus mutating and becoming more virulent is abnormal. Didn't that exact same scenario happen with Spanish flu?yuekit
- he talked to Yuri Deigin in june 2020 about it:
https://www.youtube.…uan - https://yurideigin.m…
the medium article about the lab hypothesisuan - Yuri Deigin doesn't think it's a bioweapon from the lab. it could also be natural mutations in the context of population of bats and pangolines kept in the lab.uan
- I thought this article was good, gives fair consideration to the lab theory while also not overselling it.yuekit
- https://www.cnet.com…yuekit
- The thing is, viruses mutate and recombine all the time in nature. And there are basically endless ways a virus could spread from animals to humans undetected.yuekit
- SARS 1 for instance is believed to have originated in bats in Yunnan, China. It then somehow popped up in a city a day's drive away (just as far away as Wuhan).yuekit
- That's why I think most scientists will say natural origin is most likely while not ruling out the lab leak. Because there are a small number of labs, butyuekit
- millions of potential ways it could spread naturally...through farming, animal trade, markets etc.yuekit
- And the reality is we don't know how many coronaviruses exist, nor is there much visibility into which viruses exist in which animal populations.yuekit
- Wish he wore his bandana.PhanLo

COVID-19: Mutation of Kent variant detected in samples could help virus evade immune system
The variant means the virus has developed a 'superpower' which allows it to change shape so antibodies don't recognise it- Sigh.Continuity

200K in 10 million?
Fuck the old and sick?dmay - influenza is generally a fraction of 1%
100k in 10 million, feels better?
Death is a part of life.ApeRobot - Influenza is much less contagious and much less harmful:

- What are you actually afraid of with the vaccine though? If it actually is harmless and it prevents millions of people dying, are you really still against it?yuekit
- I'm not antivax.
I'm afraid of people stupidity, i'm not afraid the vaccine or covid itself.
I despite the fearmongering.ApeRobot - Fearmongering? My father-in-law died of covid, never held his 8 months old grand daughter... A family of close friends, around my age (mid 40's), father in ICUdmay

- and you this is just "people stupidity"?dmay
- Old people or people with pre-medical conditions, diabetus, obesity etc might die of it. Only 2 or 3 percent of people catching it might die if not treated.ApeRobot
- Just look a the numbers and medical conditions, that's all i'm saying.
I feel sorry for your loss.ApeRobot - What's the smart approach though? I feel like the "herd immunity" thing has been pretty throughly discredited.yuekit
- Not a single country has achieved this, and once the virus mutates and/or immunity wears off, the cycle just begins all over again.yuekit
- Further more, ICU beds are completely filled with COVID cases, what should we do with them? Let them die, so we can use the beds to other cases?dmay
- Let the virus spread, and stop admitting old people in hospitals?dmay
- Also an important point that it seems is just starting to dawn on people is that the more you let the virus spread, the more strains and variants develop.yuekit
