In the recent week/days nurses, doctors from various countries were invited to closed groups to share information with people from the private sectors who have the determination and resources to help.
Just to get a picture about this i'm going to share one of these communications:
"Hi all!
I'm not sure if the shields are verified or not, but around an hour ago I got an URGENT request from someone that one hospital needs 100 shields ASAP. I just want to make sure that this is not a scam and/or I'm not breaking any law while I'm thinking that I'm helping..
Here is the mail:
"Hi there,
"..."I'm emailing you because your email is listed here for urgent COVID related business
I got a request from a cousin, who is a doc at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton said she can't source visors anywhere. She needs 100+ for the hospital. I said I'd help her source them. I know the models for these are everywhere online, incl here.
Question:
Can you print and deliver?
If not deliver, can you send overnight?
If so, how many?
Do you have all the required additional tools/parts? Can you assemble?
If your answer is yes to 1/2, and 4 please email me the details (with "BRIGHTON # Visors" as title) and I will send you back the postal address tomorrow.
If your answer is yes to 1/2 but not 4, let me know what gaps you have (with "BRIGHTON Just Short" in title and we'll be in touch.
Thanks,"
Thanks for helping!"

Seriously, media outlets just STOPPED STREAMING the live update. It was THAT bad.
I was listening to it in the background on my laptop. The rambling, repeating, and misinformation....good lord.

Republicans last month:
We're pro-life. No life is unimportant.
Republicans this month:
Our people need to get back to working their shitty factory and deadend jobs. If old people die, that's a price we're ok with paying. We can't support them.

The NZ approach to handling the financial fallout from this seems far more logical than Australia's. They are directly supporting business to keep employees in their jobs by guaranteeing a level of pay for pretty much every worker.
Seems much safer and smarter than what we're doing with government websites crashing and long lines of people outside government offices registering for unemployment benefits.
