- I didn't realize that 50% of all Americans live check by check. Sadly they are going to financially doomed and in debt in 30 days, so sad.utopian
- people are also living check to check because they're buying too much things, not necessarily because they're actually poor.Bennn
- People are already in debt. Think of all the people who do dumb jobs like Uber or work retail for $15/hr max.********
- Bennn the US expert...from Canada :)Krassy
- exactly. And how many people earning 100K are in total debt because they buytoo much shit on creditBennn
- its like this in Canada. I can easily think its the same over thereBennn
- I'm Dominican, ppl over there are definitely not living check to check because they buy too much things.Maaku

are you guys going to the grocery store to get your food or you have other alternatives like online>delivery ??
I feel this is the worst place to go at the moment because everyone is going there and touch everything and with the restaurants shutdown, there's a huge peak in customers at the grocery stores, i've read an article about this yesterday.
My ride in the subway is pretty safe, there's an estimate of 70% less people, i have no problem being at 5-6' from everyone. At my job, i work alone in a room, pretty safe there too. So yeah, i feel the grocery store is where I have the potential to catch that thing.
- Subway is full of surfaces, though. Get your groceries however and then disinfect everything incl. yourself when you get home.nb
- And why the fuck are you not working from home.nb
- went this am, quiet, even had toilet paper. Morrisons, camden, london.shapesalad
- But some idiot parked their bicycle right next to me, as I was locking up, even though the bicycle rack was empty and they could have kept 2m away from me.shapesalad
- We leave everything on the table for a complete day (24h min), I order things only online, built the optimal ways for that last week.sted
- veggies are washed with soap water, and washed twice with clean carefully before they go to the fridge.sted
- Requires a lot of planing in many levels i'm not using my right hand to open doors only my lefty with a tissue, this forces my brain to check on what i'm doingsted
- They didn't want their bike get lonely, and bikes aren't susceptible to diseases affecting humans.Nairn
- And allows to only use my right hand for the keys, wallet, phone etc. or anything what i have on me without worrying that i'm going to infect these objects.sted
- @nb I stand in the subway, not touching anything, hands in my pockets. And i cant work from home with the job i do.Bennn
- @sted, good idea to leave everything 24h without touching. I may do this.Bennn
- what really hard to lear is when somebody needs your signature use your pen or a tissue to hold it if the other person gives you one.sted
- regardless of they wear gloves or not.sted
- all store are on Paypass right now over here. They dont want cashBennn
- @Bennn I got that from your post:( this might sound ridiculous but if you see that you are touching things accidentally with this mindset move to wearing glovessted
- I mean outside on public transport lol :D
i'm also trying to keep my hands in my pocket all the times :)sted - We buy all from a small supermarket and a butcher shop near our home, if not, online (e.g. liquid for contacts and other first necesity items), and clean them..OBBTKN
- Also simple SOAP is your best friend, but please try not using these home made things... you will see liquid soaps disappear from our lives soon.sted
- at home with water and bleach. We're totally isolated at home, not used the cars for a week and we live in a small town with a pop. of 1.500OBBTKN
- it is a town with many old people, but only 1 case of virus infection, for nowOBBTKN
- what about food OBBTKN ?Bennn
- @OBBTKN i wish i could switch places with you (from 5M / 355 are positive currently) :Dsted
- and no more supermarkets.sted
- I have to go to the grocery store once a week. I will hit up outdoor produce stands as long as they exist. Online too much is sold out, unfortunately.monospaced
- I went yesterday. It was fully stocked, calm and collected. People kept distance, people AREN'T touching everything, and it seemed entirely safe from my view.monospaced
- That's really great Mono, looks like you guys understood the basic things pretty quick.sted
- most of the delivery services i.e. Wholefoods, Peapod, Freshly, etc... are booked for at least 2-4 weeks.utopian
- I have to say ... if NYC keeps it up like this, we might survive.monospaced
- The online delivery from grocery stores overloaded. I just ordered groceries last night and we'll get them in 12 days. :(Melanie

- centuries of prayers.... and centuries of wars, plague and unnecessary death. Where do all your prayers go?Bennn
- ^ when you pray you burn calories, which are actually expelled in air and poop as forms of energy, which causes global warming.shapesalad
- This guy truly believes in supernatural assholes helping Trump while giving us a new plague. Fucking religious assholes.monospaced
- Quite possibly the most irrational, most fucked viewpoint to have right now. Christians should all go fuck themselves to death right now, sick fucks.monospaced

spectacular jump of cases over here in Quebec province... we were at 219 yesterday... now we're at 628!
- thanks for the downvotes folks. I'll send your regards to my people.Bennn
- They're ramping up testing, you guys are still doing only 10k/day. Wait until you're at 25k/day, shit's really going to take off.zarkonite

Congrats on starting campaign for that drug what was designed to "cure" malaria. I really hope that the people actually in charge will be able to make sane decisions.

Stood in line in the rain for 40 minutes to get into Trader Joe's this morning. The subway down there was pretty vacant. About 50% of NYers on the UWS were wearing masks. The MTA buses went free this week and I took that home. They've roped off the drivers and asked the riders to enter and exit through the rear of the bus. I rode alone for about 30 blocks. Strange. Of course, once I got back to Harlem it started to fill up. Because Harlem never gives a fuck.
Hadn't seen this previously. apologies if posted earlier. JRE episode with Michael Osterholm of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy posted ten days ago. Some interesting info about epidemiology and expectations that I haven't seen here or elsewhere. Additional talk about Flu, Lyme etc. A slower dialog. Not so soundbitten.
TLDR: They think obesity is as bad as smoking towards mortality rates and that will be the USAs biggest health problem wrestling it. Stay healthy, lose weight, get sleep.
- @MrAbominable stay safe !Krassy
- i posted bits of it and got many downvotes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Bennn
- I don't really understand why people are still using public transit to get to Trader Joe's in NYC.nb
- You put yourself at considerable risk by traveling so far to get groceries. Just get stuff elsewhere, no?nb
- NYC is SO populous that you expose yourself to risk everywhere. There aren't safe options. And mostly we don't have cars so we can't hoard as easily.MrAbominable
- Also, never have i ever advocated Kelly Clarkson. My link looks like it got jacked...
https://www.youtube.…MrAbominable - @Bennn, sorry for the repost. I missed it earlier.MrAbominable
- no problem at all on my sideBennn
- You can and should have gone to a closer grocery store. I also live in Manhattan and there is no reason to get on a bus to get groceries.monospaced
- It isn't so populous that you can't avoid exposure risk. C'mon dude.monospaced
- The only reason you stood in line that long was because they are limiting capacity in the store. It's a shorter line than you usually have getting OUT!monospaced
- the only reason i stood in line that long was because they changed the opening hours and didn't post them. Not a big deal, throttle back. Just sharing.MrAbominable
- You conveniently left that out, leading us to believe the line was due to crowding, or somethjing else anyone might imagine. Posting Rogan? Throttle down ;)monospaced
- I live in NYC. Not risking the bus/subway to my usual trips to TJ's. Plenty of grocery options within a few blocks of me.nb
- I didn't conveniently do anything. I gave an outline of my commute. I'm currently making coffee, does that trigger you too?MrAbominable
