Ukraine moving into offensive.
Local authorities do confirm that Ukrainian armed forces have Russians in Bucha, Irpin, and Hostomel locked in a pocket.
It remains to be seen how tight is the encirclement. Hopefully, the recent operations made Russians kiss their supplies goodbye along the Warsaw Highway. And it was supposed to be the Russian encircling and besieging Kyiv.
- they must have the best intel coming in from the western intelligence services and tech-infrastructure... wondering at what scale this will be effective...neverscared

Journalist Roman #Tsimbalyuk reported that a #Russian serviceman ran over his commander with a tank, who sent his comrades-in-arms to their certain death. Now the run over colonel is being treated in a #Belarusian hospital.
- #fragging********
- Sorry, but how does someone get run over by a fucking 46-tonne tank, and survives to get treated for it? As much as I would *love* to believe this little gem ..Continuity
- ... I call BS. Get run over by a motherfucking tank isn't really a survivable event.Continuity

That's hefty.
Up to 40,000 (out of 190K) Russian Troops Killed, Wounded, Taken Prisoner or Missing in Ukraine, WSJ: https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage…
1 month into this war Russia lost more than in 10 years in Afghanistan.
- I'm taking all these Russian casualty figures with a grain of salt. There's no denying they're taking losses, but I don't they're as heavy as either Ukraine orContinuity
- it'll keep going like this. Russians have no will to fight Ukraine. Unless NATO gets sucked in, then ALL of Russia mobilizes and it could be a different story._niko
- ... (occasionally) the UK are making them out to be. Naturally, there's a vested tactical interest in exaggerating them upwards.Continuity
- So comparing to a fight against NATO forces, total annihilation in like under a weeek?grafician
- A graffiti writer my mates would sometimes paint with in Moscow got killed early on. He was in the army. Crazy losses for a modern war.PhanLo
- @Cont: Even the official Russki news outlet briefly reported 10K dead. Who knows the exact figure but so far 10K-15K dead for sure.NBQ00
- Then another 25K-30K wounded, deserted/ missing (out of action).NBQ00
- but NATO is wisely keeping to the sidelines and supporting Ukraine logistically and with weapons. They know Russia wants them to enter the war, but are refusing_niko
- ...to take the bait_niko
- Ukrainians also have home court advantage and that counts by a lot, but yeah, Russian army is basically junk rated, just as the country...grafician
- right now it's 150,000 Russians vs what? 10 million Actively fighting Ukrainians? 5 Million? 1 million? numbers are in their favour_niko
- Military people said that to take Ukraine, Russia would need 900K troops on the ground. They went with 200K expecting a 3 day fight & got a 3 week fight. Bye?grafician
- 3 week fight? It's alweady a month in.NBQ00
- figure of speech for comparison duhgrafician
- "NATO estimates that between 7,000 and 15,000 Russian soldiers have been killed since the invasion began on Feb. 24. Using statistical averages from pastyuekit

So Russia mobilized 150,000 troops for this war which is 10% of its overall army.
I’m assuming this was the best 10%, so as the cream of the crop gets mowed down, they’ll be left with second and third and fourth rate soldiers and officers, generals etc to keep replacing them.
- Or maybe they underestimate the war and didn't send the best.pango
- Estimates vary, but I’ve read there’s around 5 support/logistics personnel for each active fighter. If that’s the case, that 10% might be half the fighters.monNom
- Which jives with the request for mercenaries from Syria, and the domestic rallies trying to drum up support. Also the 80:20 rule.monNom
