debate about something that is not out yet

- The lighter weight reminds me of DIN. I like this more than Helvetica that they use everywhere else.monospaced
- i likeyinteliboy
- agree monoset
- agree too. DIN is one of my all-time favoritesMorning_star
- Don't they use Myriad, not Helly?omahadesigns
- they only use myriad for their branding & marketing and packaging, etc... not their OS interfaces... that I can tell.monospaced

How long before Apple catches on and lets you make calls from it? I can't imagine they didn't assume it would go that way and as typical, they are behind the curve but will still leverage their might to suck the dollars out of people....twice.
I can see these watches being nice if you can make calls, at least for some things (like mtn biking, hiking, etc.). But it'll end up taking the place of a phone upgrade, which, more or less, is reaching the pinnacle and will be minor improvements.

Apple confirms that tattoos are a problem for the Apple Watch

The "health" angle to this thing is retarded. "You walked 1200 steps today! Good job! You're still a fat ass!"
"Your improved your masturbation speed by 13 spm (strokes per minute)! Way to go!"
So much health.
- Yet those fitbit things are like crack to so many people. I agree it's a little ridiculous to count steps, but some people obsess over it!monospaced
- The tracking is enlightening. When its a really heavy work day sitting on and you see how many less steps you've taken, it motivates you to go for a run.ETM
- True, and you can monitor this kind of thing with a cheap device just as good as with an Apple Watch, and you've been able to for years.monospaced
- 13 strokes per minute? what are you asleep?drgs
- yea but movement though. Accuracy is questionable, however a metric related to getting up and out of your chair is pretty useful overall.sherm

Did anyone here get one?
- Actually doesnt seem like it, at least not any of the regulars from what ive seen.CygnusZero4
- people are ashamedBen99
- yurimon0
- Still the annoying aspect of the screen turning off when youre just looking at it =/CygnusZero4
- These will be great in 5 years - thin and w/ battery life. Until then, seems more annoying than anything.formed
- He goes on and on about watch faces, but they are still circles inside a square, seems a tad geeky to me (LG's Urbane's actually look like a real watch)formed

- Company has markup?? Shocker!!ETM
- I am sure it made Mono smile. I know I would if I owned more stock than I do.formed
- Not really that much. Apple already commented that these estimates are hilariously inaccurate and that the Watch actually has a lower than normal margin.monospaced
- What makes me smile is how the iPhone business is taking over Asia.monospaced
- Small things like the profit margin estimates on something like this don't really affect the market directly, in my experience.monospaced
- Besides software and other costs, overhead, R&D, advances in the manufacturing, is one of the most expensive costs.omg

personally i think i'll get the new Pebble instead and see for the Apple Watch 2 and maybe Apple Watch 3 in a few years.

So APPLE admits that tattoos are a problem for their watches.
Shiiit! That's got all the hipsters in a quandary!
Which to get? which is cooler? A tattoo or an iWatch?
- tattoos are a problem for the sensor, not just the Apple Watch, FYI... so every device that has that type of sensor has that issuemonospaced
- but nobody pointed it out or made a big deal about it until nowmonospaced
- What else uses these sensors? Or is Apple the only device for a fully tatted hipster?formed
- Every single smart watch that has an infrared heart rate monitor. All of them, basically.monospaced
- Here's a good article explaining how basically, they're all pretty much shit at it. http://www.cnet.com/…monospaced
- People focus on Apple because they sold more of these watches in minutes than all the competition managed to sell in years combined.monospaced
- Hipsters will just tattoo an Apple Watch and call it a day.ESKEMA

- lol, is this supposed to mean anything these days?GeorgesII
- People will line up for anything.omahadesigns

The Watch is just another gadget. We're almost at this plateau, the internet is maturing, apps are apps, touch screens are touch screens. We're all so used to it now. It's normal and kinda boring.
I'd say the next leap in tech is not going to be phones or wearables or computers or gadgets... but transportation, health and energy... Tech is bursting out of our small touchscreen bubbles and is going to change how we logistically live day by day.
I'd like Apple to be part of this. Side by side with Tesla and Google as they fight it out in changing the world. Though the fact that Apple are focussing on "fashion" says a lot. It's a stupid fashion accessory. Nothing more. It could be fun, and gadgets are fun, good design and tech is cool. There's nothing wrong with that. But it's not the next revolution that stakeholders desperately scream for.
- +1 - well put. It's not going to change our day to day lives like previous devices did.
I agree regarding transportation - and my God doesn't it need it.fadein11 - Still waiting for them to shake up TV... and no AppleTV didn't... at all.fadein11
- agreed, gadgetry in general is nearly played out. time to move on to bigger, but subtler, and better things. Apple is teaming up with world changing things too.monospaced
- lol - you are a relentless Apple ambassador - you should email them and ask for free stuff.fadein11
- I am literally agreeing with you.monospaced
- okay - I know.fadein11
- +1 - well put. It's not going to change our day to day lives like previous devices did.
- utopian2
- You only have to walk into an Apple store to see this - only counter with few people round it.fadein11
- Even the lowest sales rate estimate in these articles puts the Apple Watch at 5X more than all competitors combined rate. Not sure how that's a fail.monospaced
- massive decline in sales must be a win then :)fadein11
- We have to see how it plays out.monospaced
- I'm gonna buy one just so I can sell it in 20 years for a cool mill. Watches? Like time that's not embedded on your wrist?fyoucher1
- well this "analysis" turned out to be total junkmonospaced
