I can remember the pure joy i felt as kid when I found out there were more than one version of the "film" Clue. I rushed out to rent all the beta tapes.

i never had a beta max.
in fact i had no idea what it was as a kid. once, i remember going to a rather large video store with my father and i ran to one of the aisle and told him i wanted to rent a movie. he told me it was beta and we had vhs. i was very confused. poor segregated video format.

I can remember when VHS first came out, and I wanted to watch Rad or Amercian Ninja (can't remember). We didn't have a VCR, so we actually had to rent a vcr and the tape so I could watch it. I had to put on quite a temper tantrum to get my Mom to agree.
I should probably call and apologize now that I've remembered...- I should say I remember when VHS started to win the battle.dropdown

The first movie i remember watching on a VCR (VHS, by the way) was some Charlie Brown movie. THe one where they go river rafting. It was bitter-sweet because my dad rented it for me, but i remember that time being right after he told me that he and my mom were splitting up, but before they actually moved away from each other.

Have you seen the movie since then? if so, does it have an effect on you?dropdown - ... effect on you?dropdown
- i haven't but even thinking about it puts me back in that awkward uncertain time where my dad was subtly trying to convince me to stay with himlocustsloth
- to stay with him. It's kinda ickylocustsloth
- I can't imagine what that would feel like as a child... or for that matter a parent who's unsure of their future.dropdown

Hi hot maid lady. Just so you know, it wasn't me that muddied up the hot tub. I saw Craig in there the other day eating a burrito and nachos. He was washing it all down with scotch and saying how relaxed he felt. Now I'm not pointing fingers or anything, but he has been known to piss wherever he feels he needs to... I'm just sayin'

right, this is getting out of hand. I think I'm going to quit this site now as there are far too many alternate realities kicking about and I'm not cut out for it.

hey, craig how'd the reel turn out?
- emukid0
i had nowhere else to go

i sent the reel to my former boss who used to work for a couple TV stations and now works in PR for Ben & Jerry's. Figured i'd show it to someone who has been in the position of evaluating demos for possibility of employment. He hasn't gotten back to me yet though.
i think i'm gonna send it as is to a couple of places because i REALLY have to get the ball rolling. i looked at my future employment to-do list (titled "THE FUCKING PLAN") and i'm 2 weeks late for my own fuckin deadlines. To be fair, At least a week of the hold up was due to a former employer getting me the clips i needed. The rest was spent on all those transitions that everyone loves soooo much (LOL :D).
i've toyed with the idea of justifying it with "That's me. Kind of tacky and unnecessarily flashy at times and at other times just an organizer of the story". We'll see if that steaming pile of BS flies.
i may (before i send any out) at least lower the volume of the transition sound effects. i think that will tone down the distractedness enough that i can leave them in to showcase the motion graphics. Again we'll see.
i have a little bit of an itch to start a long term documentary project about the wind farm that may be going up behind my yard. i'd follow the people closest to the project through the approval, construction and completion/operation phases, as well as principles in the process (board members, the guy who owns the property, town residents who live farther away). What i'd like to have in the end is at least 4 subjects:
1 who goes from pro to con
1 who goes from con to acceptance
2 who don't change their position
It'd purely be for public access. Maybe i could finagle a grant for it somehow.
But in the meantime, i have
A) The paid work i'm supposed to be doing
B) The work i need to to to get more work
C) A project or two of pro-bono/favor stuff (including a 2 yr old wedding video which i feel ill about)
D) Keeping up with my online social status
