it's hilarious in retrospect to read Rolling Stone's lukewarm reviews of such masterpieces as The Songs of Leonard Cohen, which have held up to 40 years of repeated listening.

Stuff happened and some water got spilled on my MacBook keyboard, I cleaned it up real quick but apparently a little got under the keys. Now my x (typed on eternal keyboard) key doesn't work, nor does my left side command key. I took the keys off and dried them everywhere I saw moisture, and put the computer to sleep but unfortunately that was the best I could do timewise at that moment. I'm hoping it just starts working maybe in a couple of days when any leftover moisture dries, because at first the x key was working fine (it didn't stop working until a couple hours after the spill).

I just bought slide and b&w film and a flash for my lc-a, a 320gig hard drive for my ps3 and a hard drive enclosure for the drive Im gonna replace. I feel so fucking nerdy. But that'll change when I come back on here complaining about how I've just turned my ps3 into a paper weight.
Im looking forward to the camera stuff though, night-time shots with the lc-a are a blurred mess without the flash. Im probably going to go through about 2 rolls of film before I get the hang of using the flash with it.

I'm heading off to school in a couple of hours to work on some video editing with my group. Our video is funny, but has a lot of brightness issues as the camera-person of our group screwed it up (each person has to have a role, and I was already the director and part-editor). A few of us went to re-shoot some scenes, and I ended up being the camera-person as the original girl couldn't make it, and I think I did a fairly good job. However, now there are consistency issues with the time of day. I managed to make one part (where it gets dark) work by superimposing a clock (that I made in Flash) on top of the video to suggest that time is passing, but the rest of the scenes will not look as good. The prof told us that the story is more important, and I, at least, have learned a lesson about shooting during certain times of the day. Now I just have to get the rest of the group moving with this project.
There is another editor among the group. He was also the main actor in the film. He did an OK job with the files, which I then further edited over this weekend. The issue I may have is that he wants to edit the entire thing, even though he's really slow (not to be mean, but it's the truth) and misses a lot of little things that will make the film look like shite once it's "done". Plus, as the second editor, I should be able to work on the files for at least one day without him feeling like he didn't do anything (even though he worked on them for a week or more). I'm going to have to re-assure him that I took the work that he did, and just built upon it, and that I did not start from scratch with the source files. There is some kind of self-esteem or control problem here. He thinks each of us should do a separate version, which I think is fine if you're going to collaborate, but shouldn't be done the day before the assignment is due, as we probably won't have time to mix and match ideas of how we edited. I also like having things a certain way, but I know what I am good at and what I need help with, so I won't voice my opinion about anything unless I know it will make our film better.

On a separate idea:
Are forgiving and forgetting really that separate?
I don't think they are that separate all the time. If you don't forget (as many people claim), perhaps not forgetting leads to remembering. Remembering means you keep mentioning the "indiscretion" to the "culprit" (for lack of a better word), either consciously or otherwise, or that it festers within yourself and you end up taking out your anger on the other person, pretending that it's about a different issue altogether when it really isn't. When you remind someone else of the "wrongdoings" they did to you: to some, this means that you never really forgave them at all.
