btw i was lucky enough to have a had close encounter with ´god´. not religious type stuff. not a vision. but a perspective. a point of view. massively profound spiritually, gigaton range. good stuff, i shit you not. but still doesn´t matter to anybody or help anybody but me personally.

I survived the San Diego Blackout of 2011. Just got power back after 7 hrs of living in the dark ages.
- did you stand in peoples living rooms while they were unaware?TresLeches

I went to go get a coffee about 45 mins ago... on the way back (this happened in all of 3 minutes time) I saw that a kid / young person had gotten creamed by a car. Her shoes and her backpack had been tossed from her body and she was crumpled up on the side of the road surrounded by people but no authorities... there was no movement or sign of life in her body...

@hombre "was your answer to reproduce?"no, my answer is "to learn my legacy as man, to learn what it is to be human". to know the full breadth of the human experience by studying history, psychology, sociology. to live. to know who i am by looking to the inward mysteries, recognizing and identifying subconscious projections and bringing my shadow self to light. to learn to use the ego as a tool instead of being governed by it. to love and be loved as a means to actualize myself to the fullest extent possible within my limited timeframe.
reproduction probably is the right answer. more than likely i think we just happened, and that species persistence is primary. i feel that there may be more to that though; our brains have developed well past the point that is necessary to achieve this, and it's sometimes maddening trying to know what we should be doing with it.
sometimes trying to find a point in it all is overwhelming, but the question is one i can never ignore. picking out a "god" arbitrarily just to silence the question will never be enough.
- sounds good man! totally agree about picking a god. its just our brains need an explanation, and religion works for most ppl.Hombre_Lobo

well... scarabin... haha... I actually had a point of view in my head last night and was prepared to sit and type it up over coffee this morning...
... I had comments about God and Man... and man's purpose... a few thoughts were religious... a few thoughts may have been more philosophical...
... but after seeing a young person in a lifeless pile on the side of the road this morning... my brain is thinking far less extraordinary thoughts on 'why we are'... ... and instead is hung up on the fact that "I'm just glad I'm here and get a chance to even ask 'why'"...

incidentally, it was death that had me thinking about it all last night.

I hate it when people are in a hurry with road rage or side walk rage. People need to relax.

This 30gb iPod Classic I stored 2 years ago took a day to charge back to life and still has 5gb (694 tracks) I had never listened to on it. Here's hoping my buddy wants to trade for his iPod Nano so I can get in on this QBN+ Challenge nonsense.

"if you were to die right now, would your life have been worthwhile?"
@spike, i find that having the chance to be alive itself makes it worthwhile. what are the odds? did i do anything "meaningful" with my life, depends on who's standards exactly? not sure. but i find that every life no matter how insignificant, is beyond precious and one should never look at life like a random act.
i'm one to believe that i had a choice to be here, not anyone's choice but my own. and even though i'm constantly changing, growing and mutating into new versions of me, i believe that yes, my life has definitely been worthwhile.

apparently the presence of "spindle neurons" in an animal denotes their having a concept of self. consciousness.
it's primarily found in whales and dolphins.

I'm realizing that while in the middle of a home renovation project - I'm more handy than I thought I was. This is a good thing.
I will have before and after pics when the project is complete.
Happy Friday.
