Whenever I deal with friendly people at the supermarket or some store over some $5 sale, it makes me feel shitty about sending not being prompt with client emails or negotiating $100s of dollars.

I have my $ in a credit union (CU) X the coast. Within 11 mos. I've had 4 fraudulent charges on my account.
One account which is an Emergency savings acct, got charged $1,600 at a local supermarket (to the CU). Visa declined the charges.
At this point I believe that it may be someone in the bank.
Kind of a no brainer I think, would you guys close out the acct?- How do you spend $1,600 at a supermarket?doggydoggdog

I'm producing a 10 episode podcast series with my partner and I just listened back to a bunch of episodes with fresh ears. I can't wait to release this. It has such a glossy finish. It's has been most fulfilling working on my own projects for the last 5 years over working in advertising. My income took a hit at least for a while, but I feel like I'm doing things now I can share with my children years down the line with pride. Chase your dreams y'all.

- mostly a lot of music industry stories. behind the scenes of label deals we had, tours, and huge collaborations (Nas, Dead Prez, Cudi)shellie

Looking to purchase a 1971 print and it's signed and details "Printer's Proof 4/5". I've never really understood these numbers. Isn't a 4/5 better (more valuable) then a 25/200? Is a Printer's Proof considered more desirable compared to a non printer's proof?
- It means the the number that print is among the total number of prints. So, that's the 4th one he printed out of 5 total before he stopped.monospaced
- shorter run usually means higher value for sure... same for the printer's proof (collectors like authenticity)PonyBoy
- Err. The 4th of 5 printer proofs before the final run perhaps?monospaced
- TY: I assumed that 4/5 is better than 1/5 b/c the quality of the later print would be better then the first?whatthefunk
- ahh, "A printer's proof, created in small numbers and given to the printer by the artist in appreciation. These are typically signed by the artist."whatthefunk
- no, the value of x/y is largely irrelevant, unless you have 1/1000 or something.
Printer's proofs are rarer than the actual edition, so tend to command more £detritus - sorry, people covet 'the first' of an edition, but it's a largely meaningless differentiator that only full-time collectors care about, within their own domain.detritus
- funny i should read this now - I'm actually adding edition numbers to some pieces as I type :)detritus
- printers proof is a test run before the actual run.fadein11
- and yes could be more valuable if any good - but as I say it's the process of getting the print right so therefore may be defficient compared to final editions.fadein11
- Do you like it or not? Don't worry about value.bainbridge

Told My kid yesterday that the Easter bunny know if he has been good the same way Santa Claus knows.. Do you guys frequently notice grammatical, spelling and usage errors from news organizations on the web? And, if you do, do you get annoyed or blow it off? One of our Chicago news orgs is notorious for these mistakes on Facebook and in their actual web content. They actually have a link at the bottom of their web pages that says " suggest a correction" so that readers can basically do their proofreading for them.
This stuff drives me crazy. Don't you think that makes them look pretty embarrassing, for not training actual writers in proofreading, editing, having someone else read their work before publishing? It's a daily occurrence with them. What's worse, is that I and others usually call them out, then get criticized for having high standards, or being grammar nazis, or whatever other sad put down someone can come up with. It's baffling to me that people are willing to accept this stuff, and won't even acknowledge these are writing skills most people learn in junior high.
- Funny you post this, because I've been noticing it an awful lot lately.section_014
- I got told "you have such High Standards go put on your flannel drink your craft beer and feel the Bern lame as Hipster" today...mg33
- By someone because I pointed out the news orgs rampant mistakes. LOL. All simply because they could see my profile photo, and my beard.mg33
- agreed.bklyndroobeki
- I am curious about the loss of credibility with grammatical errors.bklyndroobeki

- Check out this BBC article "Why typos and spelling mistakes don't really matter."
http://www.bbc.com/n…mg33 - yes, drives me crazy, and makes me think less of themmonospaced
- btw, "suggest a correction" is typically used in the event that story facts or names are incorrect, not for typos...whatthefunk
- also, the pressure these writers are under to create x number of viral articles with a shit salary it's a wonder stuff gets written at allwhatthefunk
- That's very true. I work with a guy who was a content writer for a Chicago paper. He said they're all measured on output, metrics, clicks, ads served.mg33
- Nobody cares about quality or grammatical accuracy.mg33

I think I'm feeling overwhelmed with information these days. Like... it could be making me a little delirious. Coupled with all the things I "need" to learn, or maybe feel like I need to learn.
Anyone ever feel this way?
How do you tackle the stress?- I bought a Kindle so I can limit distractions when I want to read. I realized iBooks just doesn't work (unfortunately at least $80-$100 late, in purchases)mg33
- I bounce between news, Facebook, other apps, all the time when I'm using my phone. The kindle is nice - just books.mg33
- I have also noticed I'm using Feedly far less than I used to. I used to obsess over local crime info / news, but slowly faded out of that. It's just too much.mg33
- same here mg33. used to be really into news. i switched my attention to tech news but like anything too much is not a good thing. also coming out of a verybklyndroobeki
- stressful 6-8 mos which might be playing a part of things. Also just generally feeling like there's so much good stuff out therebklyndroobeki
- how do I compete.bklyndroobeki
- so mg33 you just read more-- what are you reading?bklyndroobeki
- Yeah, I need to read more so I made it a goal. Reading 4 books on it right now: Street Photography, by Erik Kim...mg33
- Making Music, Creative Strategies for electronic music producers, Design For Real Life (A Book Apart)mg33
- And a book called Deeper, by Jeff Long, which is a sequel to a fantastic book called The Descent.mg33
- I read a lot of non-fiction, i'll switch it up. A kindle would be good for me, nice suggestion + Deeper, eh? Now on my list. Will report back.bklyndroobeki
- I can't praise The Descent enough. That movie of the same name was loosely based on it. I absolutely loved the book.mg33
- It's based on the premise that, if there's an actual God, there must be an actual Satan living in the core of the earth. Sounds crazy, but it was excellent.mg33
- So, check out The Descent first.mg33
- mg33 is that fiction? scifi?bklyndroobeki
- The Descent is fiction. Slightly sci-fi.mg33

to not believe in the church but still believe in the state, is literally like saying:
I don't believe in Spider-Man, but i have a close relationship with Batman and one day he will save us all
- Depends what you mean by believe. The state exists..********

- believing in jesus isn't like believing in the state, not literally or otherwisemonospaced

- Most people aren't economists or philosophers so a good deal of the social contract we participate in is an act of faith********
- My people starve for lack of knowledge.yurimon
- once believing in jesus was the state by having the pope a representative of mono. this is historic to theocracy is was as real to people as the state is now.yurimon
- Your meaning is unclear********
- Who the bothers not believing in churches? It's the concept of God that people question the value of believing in - not a church.detritus
- Churches are just the human-scale control structures whose authority is pretty much solely given by the aforesaid belief in deity.detritus
- I'm glad I'm not shackled by a belief in supernatural deities, their children, their expectations or their promises of the afterlifemonospaced
- the state, even in my limited understanding, at least makes sense in a tangible waymonospaced
- Just keep the two separate. Please. or the Pope will rule the world soon.robthelad

There's a lunch place near my office where you order at the counter and then they bring the food to you and also clear your plate after you leave.
If you pay by credit card, there's a line on the receipt for tips. Would you tip? or just put a buck in the tip jar?
I feel guilty writing 0 even though they are like a retail store with tables.
