LOLZ @ the guy who wanted me to shoot photos for his band's show last night but didn't want to do it because he thought the venue wasn't that appealing for "good" photos, who then posted 70, SEVENTY shitty cell phone photos of the show to Facebook, 2/3 of which are nearly identical to at least another photo in the set. I seriously don't get how people can't look at a photo set and think "this one looks just like this one. and this one. and this one. Maybe I should choose ONE of them." I would have given him 15 photos that were the best, with each showing a different moment that was distinguishable from the other photos. Of his 70 photos, he could have narrowed down to eight.
- I'm not even saying this just to vent. I seriously have no idea how people can be so unaware of narrowing down a set of photos to the best ones.mg33
- did you quote him a $ price?Ramanisky2
- Don't even get me started on the photos that are truly shit and look like a digital watercolor painting because someone thinks digital zoom should ever be usedmg33
- Ram - yeah. I came up with a pricing structure that would have been $180 for an hour of shooting, and 15 limited use licensed photos.mg33
- He was cool with that completely, but then thought the venue wasn't appealing enough. I even had photos to show him from that venue I'd shot that looked good.mg33
- I've taken great band shots in shitty venues that turned out great with stage lighting and a crowdmonospaced
- Same here. Same venue as his show:
http://www.mg33.com/…mg33 - I really need to start doing a weekly blog post with advice to novice photographers on this sort of stuff. I'd rather turn an annoyance into a positive thing.mg33
- he probably got wasted. high and drunk and dumb********
- Def sucks. But, maybe he was just using the venue as an excuse because he didn't want to pay for photography but also didn't want to admit to being a cheapo.nb
- now I have to see his pics ....
c'mon post the link :)Ramanisky2 - nb - he hired a video service to record the show. he's not cheap with money, I just think he doesn't know any better. well, maybe he spent too much on video...mg33
- Yeah, and no excuse for posting 70 photos of anything.nb
- I wish I could share them but don't want to cross that line. Just imagine clicking through 6 portrait photos of a dude at a microphone.mg33
- I'll give him a C for effort, he didn't want to hurt your feelings by telling you he doesn't need you for pictures because Instagram.Maaku

- What is "limited used license photos" mean in this case? shooting a friend's band at small venue here in san diego next sat and im pretty much offerimg toHijoDMaite
- Shoot for free but the band is very legit and they could become a lot bigger.HijoDMaite
- As in photographer holds the right to the photo. The can can only use photos for social media. No reprint. No other product derived from it. Etc etcpango
- Hijo - send me an email and I will send you a link to my pricing structure. It could be helpful.mg33
- Thanks mg will doHijoDMaite
- Thanks pango thats what im looking for.HijoDMaite
- Pretty much what Pango said, and protects you from selling a photo for too cheap that is used commercially to make money for the client.mg33

I finally got to read the script I wrote when I was 12-13. I haven't recovered the floppy disc it was on, but I did find a printed copy - 80 pages but missing page 1.
Holy crap some of the characters I came up with are crazy. The comic relief for the entire story turns out to be the product of a rape with an uncaring mother. That's how I explained why he was so lost and aimless. I completely forgot about that detail until I found a hard copy. It's a wonder my mother never raided my computer and journals. If she did we definitely would have had a talk.
- cool. i wrote about weird shit too when I ws a kid. I found my comics from adolesence not too long ago********

A client asked me to fix his Wordpress site which was built not by me. It's got some custom functions, but it's pretty typical. After a while, client mentions to me he is editing the .php files when he wants to change headings, etc. So, he edits some parts of his site via WP, but other parts via FTP, even sometimes editing php pages that are part of the WP install.
He told me that's how his developer made it. Is this at all common? Have any of you ever had a reason to do this? Because to me it seems fucking insane and ridiculous. Am I crazy?
- It's not ideal but it makes sense. You could edit via the Theme>Editor portion of the dashboard. FTP - maybe he's changing the code locally, then overwriting.mg33
- And the PHP pages, maybe he's editing these on the server, like through CPanel>File Manager.mg33
- It sucks that the client has to do all that to make simple changes but you'll either have to deal with it or suggest changes eh?shellie
- You should mail him glitter.mg33
- Oh wait, that company went under :(mg33
- nb... very common. I'm in the middle of the exact same thing right now for a photographer who got screwed by his initial dev. :(PonyBoy

@hayoth: I'd show you buying department every single penny that crash caused by cheap drives cost them.
And I'd make them responsible for this, really make them bleed. I'm so sick of stuff not working because somebody who has no clue decides over what he has been consulted.
- consumer drives für the whole agency work, wtf were they thinkin? Saving like $500, thats fucking peanutsmekk
- Agree. I dont work for the smartest people. We purchased an enterprise replacements, while my input is valued, im not the decision maker.Hayoth
- Our production manager/production artist manages the server, while he is smart, he has been responsible for two crashes. One crash lost everything.Hayoth
- I have a friend that is very knowledgeable about serverbackups and used his insight to guide the rebuild process.Hayoth
- The insane thing is we have one client that does over a $million in photography that we store! Our internal investments are lacking because the owner rides theHayoth

If you have sex with a transgender girl. Does that make you gay or straight?

Got an email from the boss praising how brilliant this idea/logo is:

Thoughts?

- Tell boss...it looks like shit!utopian
- Done, done and done again. Would've been 'Brilliant' a decade or more ago, as it is, it's just inspired by a slew of similar concepts.detritus
- what detritus saidmonospaced
- ^ I feel that way too. They are late in the game and trying too hard to appeal to the young millennials.Maaku
- anything that creates more work and options is fine by me.imbecile
- i'd be interested to know if each shape represents an individual for specific reasons or points of input, or even if those individuals drew their own shape.imbecile
- if generic, what's the point, and what is being built on and growing organically other than a pile of random shapes and colors?imbecile
- Yea it's cliché but it's still nice********
- To us cunty designers it's cliché but to the average person it's cool and happy and colourful and different...********
- Those fucking millennials, I blame themyuekit
- I like how the shape changes as different people leave different types of stain shapes in front of their computer engaging in online activities.yurimon
- i dont think the average person is going to react like we will. most likely drool over themselves looking at the pretty colors. we are all different n specialyurimon
- we are a rainbow. so its good in appealing for the audience thus makes it decent design.yurimon
- I think over all this will be redone in a couple of years. its trend piece that will work for the time.yurimon
- Number yurimon, engage.********

- Carl with a k? Sure thing cark********
- It's a dancing blob.dbloc
- I think it's halfway to personalize the brand's identity for each customer. i would been great in the '90 but today telco is more than just voice communication.sted
- I like the concept. A logo that "responds" to those who interact with it.wagshaft
- amoebas are still is the best we can do when it comes to dynamic ci?sted
- BTW. Holy shit a design discussion.wagshaft
- it wouldnt work without the names of people. somehow the shapes could be better thought out in my opinion like if you were to take each shape in a transparencyyurimon
- like maybe at 15% opague and combine all available shapes to feel more modular like pieces of whole.yurimon
- i can imagine the use of these shapes along with names in info graphics demonstrating network scenarios. that could be interesting abstract design on featuresyurimon
- the more advance ideas i have for this im going to have to reserve cause its going into pay me territory. but good luck.yurimon
- good luck?monospaced
- oh my dirty mind says this looks like a guy icon looking at a big vagina. like he is thinking how can i tackle this big vagina its so big but i wants it i needyurimon

- We're all designers, after all. Like @Wagshaft said, finally a design discussion :)Maaku
- Its not that clever... looks like the aol branding********

- I think its ok. not really taking any risks. its going to be redone in a couple years to a year. watch.yurimon
- repeating yourself?monospaced
- would look better if the morph was smoother imo.dbloc
- after reading the article, I like it even more.imbecile
- Gay Blob?********
- There's a lot more to this than this blob animation. I like it, and as set said we are not the audience, we are just cunty.MrT
- I find it hard to belive when companies say their logo is inspired by this or that etc. It's like drawing a grid over your logo to make it look pro.mekk
- Still like the idea and the overall design!mekk
- Anyone able to sell that kind of visual identity to a company deserves all my respect.sr_rosa
