So the startup I'm involved in hit some roadblocks at the start of the year...but most have been overcome and things are steaming ahead. My entire focus has been on the business model and getting that right...not much focus has been on the tech side. But things are moving fast so I need to start thinking.
So without going into too much detail, we're working on a classified listing site...and yes, before anyone says "there's a gazillion of them...you've got no chance"...well we do have a secret sauce, and some backing from some very influential people and organisations. So let's just assume there's a demand for what we're doing.
It's not in real estate...but think of it like a Zillow...where a particular industry lists items they are selling, and they pay us a fee. It will be web and App based...will need to be able to handle the listings, analytics, user notifications, billing (at some point of the business), a secure area where our customers upload their items...etc etc. You know the drill.
We met with some of the larger agencies about 12 months ago...pre COVID. Most can handle what we're asking...as expected, huge $$ with them.
Others I've spoken to have said to hire developers and PM and run in house.
At this point, I'm slightly conflicted. I'm tempted to go in house...but not 100% certain.
And what DEV platforms do people suggest? We're starting with a completely blank canvas...so everything is on the table.

Eight months ago my neighbor across the street put a Trump flag in his front lawn. Eventually, it was relocated to a homemade flagpole on the chimney. "Hey neighbors, spot the asshole on the block." Not a lot of traffic when you live in a cul de sac, so I had the unfortunate privilege of viewing that shit stain.
I'm happy to say that it's been removed today.

After 14 months of unemployemnt and about 10 months of hard job searching (during a pandemic) -- I finally found FT work as an Art Director. Its been a damn long road filled with lots of self doubt but the grind paid off.
If you are in a similar spot looking for FT work, keep at it and push through. Things may seem super bleak but the goal at the end of the road is worth the struggle.

After ponyboy’s magical poo post a while back (and the comments with it) I’ve hit the kombucha pretty hard. Not a fan of the big bottles of flavoured stuff so went for a concentrate I found at the local health food shop.
Diet was always reasonably healthy (notwithstanding the excess of coffee and alcohol) but I’ve stopped eating gluten and have cut down on anything that isn’t at least borderline healthy.
I no longer need multiple trips to the shitter every morning and my poo is on the way to magical status. I’m a new man and have noticed a real change in stress and moodiness as my health improves.
Next stop, quit smoking cigs.

Learned of a friend who recently passed of cancer at a much to early age of 40. We knew each other since we were teens, lost contact for a decade but pick up again and she became a pen pal of sorts, vicariously writing of her life and adventures, jumping around Europe, being involved in so many projects. Unfortunately, two years ago, life got in my way and I neglected communications, she wrote one last time about a year ago and that was it. She was beautiful, confident, funny, creative, someone you wanted to be around. Rest in peace Love.

I make a lot of Edibles, like A LOT, I prefer the high of edibles over smoking it, though I do both. lately I have been wanting to make the strength of my edibles more consistent so a couple days ago I finally ordered a scale to weigh out my portions since down here in Mexico we buy weed by the kilo (about $80 US for cooking quality stuff) and these packed bricks can be deceiving when laying out your herb on a pan to decarboxilate n whatever. so anyways, my neighbors already think I'm some kind of drug dealer because I live amongst doctors, lawyers, hell one of my neighbors has a Ferrari f40 and our neighborhood is on the beach, & I literally live in the 1 house in that neighborhood whose house is the closest to the beach, all they see is me surfing and skating but they don't know that I have a 9-5 job as a developer for stateside clients working from home. Amazon normally delivers shit in plain Amazon Boxes but about 20 minutes ago my scale arrived NOT in an Amazon box, you can clearly see its a medium sized kitchen scale, I open my door to receive that package to find Amazon dude talking to one of my neighbors holding the scale in his hand and him reading the box as hes talking to my neighbor.
I have a friend I surf with used to sell Kush till one day (very recently) the cartel kidnapped him, tortured him for 2 days, told him to stop selling Kush to surfers then released him, I don't sell weed, I smoke it and eat it and give out butter bars to friends so they can bake their brownies, but now I have to worry about word getting out that I'm selling too, Thanks Amazon for deciding to save on cardboard this 1 fucking time.
