Dammit, i been trying to find a clip of Eddie Murphy's Raw where he does a bit about when Bill Cosby called Eddie complaining about the language Eddie uses in his performances. Eddie then phones Richard Pryor to ask his advice. Richard says:
"Tell Bill to have a Coke and a smile and shut the fuck up. Jello Puddin' eating motherfucker."
ROTFLMFAO!!!!
My sentiments exactly Richard. My sentiments exactly.

Kuz- your feelings about pants obsession comes more from you than from Cosby- he is not talking about baggy pants- but about where priority lies.
And it's not just a black "thang" it's a poverty thang- it's the attention towards cosumerism more than the well being in your own community. That lost pride-
Rap culture has exploited it's own up bringing- the artists yap about the days in the streets- about all the shit that goes down- and instead of focusing on the issues that buy gold plated toliet seats when they could be helping to build a community center.Cosumer obsession in poverty stricken communities stretches alot farther from the ghetto- look at any lower or low middle class neighborhood- Walmarts, McDonalds, liquor stores, on every corner- and everyone in line buying 50 cent, Marlyn Mansion, or Britney Spears records. All try to associate themselves with the culture those things represent- taking that 6.00 an hour paycheck to purchase the latest "reason they are" and "proud to be" rather than spending it to feed the family, save for the future...etc.
We are all victims of this mess- this is the American Way- but the rich get richer by telling the whole world how poor they were and you are... it's a wasted circle..
Cosby is saying to stop and think- think about your culture- it's place in history- it's future... what is more important- new rims for the hummer, or maybe moving out of the nieghbor you child might get shot in...
Rap culture has done more harm than good for the same community it sells it to - and this is not only "Black America"- "white America" probably owns more 2pac records than the ghetto does. It's not to say that freedom of speech and artist creativty shouldn't exist- it's to say that YOU are responsible for YOUR OWN up bringing- your own culture- and what defines you... making Tommy Hilfiger and 50 cent rich isn't going to feed the family-
it's entertainment- enjoy it- but prioritize-
say it loud-
be black and be proud...no matter what size pants you wear.

Bill Cosby = White man's black person
"why can't these black kids be more like us? why do they wear these crazy clothes and talk so we cant understand them? You know they're using some weird code words to deal their drugs.. boo hooo, oh mr Cosby, please tell them to act more white and less threatening... we are so frightened!"
- brandelec0
you idiot, not everyone is eddie murphy, i don't think anyone here agrees with pudding-eating muthafunker but he does have a point
- Kuz0
i didn't say everyone was eddie murphy. and what point does Bill have? That saggy pants are holding black people back???
- christoff0
woaaaaaah.
and you're done™
- brandelec0
omg, cosby is the next maury povich
- CyBrainX0
Right or wrong, people will at least start asking the right questions, like "Is it true?".
- brandelec0
hell yea, thats his point
- gabriel_pc0
you definitely can't run as fast in saggy pants. so technically they are holding people back.
- Mimio0
He's right.
- Soler0
Cosby is right. although it is all the poor, not just certain races.
- AprilRains0
He is right but technically I don't think that Cosby has ever been poor or had to live in those conditions. I mean it's easy to say that they need to stop talking in ebonics but it's just not cool to go around talking like some college kid in the ghetto. You'll get beat up.
- Kuz0
I wear saggy pants... hasn't stopped me from getting a university education and a job etc.... oh wait, i'm not black.
