Some thought for those on either side of this time waster...
1. Knowledge puffs up
2. Perls before swine
3. There is only one necessity see God's kingdom.
4. NOBODY, not your priest, pastor, bishop, cult leader, etc. has any of this stuff figured out. If that were possible, we would be God.I think our purpose in life is primarily to be curious about God and pursue Him out of that wonder and curiosity. I have NEVER seen these kind of discussion produce good.
We are too prideful.

you're right to a great extent, zoiks. I struggle with finding the fine line between intelligent debate as pre-evangelism (which is commissioned in the Bible) and "arguing" which generates heat but very little light. I try to keep to the facts at hand. I don't know.

how come these religious people neglect the power of appearance and presentation?
all the websites listed here are downright unappealing and some just ugly, can't some devine hand help them a bit with aesthetics like god used to do... or is it just harder to fool people with a reasonable IQ these days ?
- zoiks0
Because zeolots striped art out of religion. I have seen it (or the lack therof) in almost every church/denomination...
- zoiks0
I think some of the most genuine "religious" experiences with God have resulted in some of the most fantastic pieces that we see in history.

Discipler, I only ask this for my own curiosity, not to stir up more controversy (so if you'd rather not answer I understand)
what denomination(s) did you grow up in and are involved with currently?
- discipler0
I did not grow up in church. I grew up agnostic, but always sensing that there was something "more" to life. I received Jesus Christ as my personal Lord & Savior as a young adult, after lots of wrestling with issues and objections.
I currently attend a reformed evangelical church which has it's roots in the Presbyterian church.

Just be careful about the " I received Jesus Christ as my personal Lord & Savior" stuff.
I used to say that about myself until I realized that nobody knew what the hell I was talking about. I am starting to think that not even Jesus was "christian"... in fact I would almost be the farm on it.

I may have missed the answer to this question..I skipped many post.
does ID state specifcly how old the earth can be? Does it open the possibility that it could be well beyond the 10k year mark?
discipler, don't forget about the snaggle tooth under-bite you have...I still have that # to a good orthodontist if you need it..
- zoiks0
be+bet...
'I would bet the farm that Jesus wasn't "christian'.
In fact I think He would be anti-christian (a-kin to how he treated the pharisees)
- discipler0
zoiks - I should say "I started following Jesus...". ;) or maybe "I received Jesus".
I think what you mean is, Jesus would be against the "religiosity" that some who claim to be Christians, wear. And he is against it now. He desires humble people who want to know him more and love others. People without pretense or cold dead ritualistic and ceremonial religion.
xaos - Most I.D. proponents believe in an old earth, but not quite as old as most Darwinists. There are young earth I.D. folks as well though.
