Something more:
While there are a dearth of reasons to hate this guy and his like (misrepresenting skaters as criminals, etc, etc.-- not anyhitng that hasn;t been said before), his biggest sin is promoting lazy design practice. If an architect or city planner really wanted to deter skaters, they oculd do so in far more creative ways. this is the easy way out, and good design has never come from easy answers.
That and they're so damn ugly!

For this product rating on a scale of one to ten, I give it a dick in the butt.

(Aug 3 05, 08:39)sooo..... you're saying they could incorporate these into their designs?!?
- davey_g0
Skaters will start carrying the tool to remove the bracket thingee...on their batbelt...or Vision Streetwear hipsack.
- BrigadeDesigns0
well, not incorporate those-- I mean, really, they're a bigger eyesore than anything that guy's website has up.
There are better ways to design, putting those in just seems so lazy.
I'm more of a proponent of good urban design suiting everyone, though-- there are ways to make buildings skate-friendly, too.

Awesome. Fuck the man by destroying his private property. Cool.
I'm all for skateboarding (having been a BMXer for most my life) but respect for property is what sets the good guys apart from the bad. Riding a bike down a rail ruins the rail, so I only did it in skateparks.
Why would you rail slide down a nice marble fountain and ruin it? Now that I'm all grown up and I own my own things I realize how much it sucks for the cleanup crew to buff out marble every week.

my cousin is an architect, and when he gets full creative freedom, he throws in a little metal curb, or a little transition. hahahhahaha.

oooohhh garretwest...you are SUCH an adult - can I look up to you please?

i think those metal things are an afterthought on existing structurs, not meant to be built into future stuff ya know.
and in all honesty, it's not like the guys are skating at those places when their packed with people. it's usually after hours when nobody is around. and if people are there they have sense enough to stay out of each others way.
i for one would love to see benches somehow formed into triples for motocross guys to jump. fuckin a cool.

"Believe it or not, skaters and bikers use wax and motor oil to minimize friction for their respective stunts."
motor oil? Who the f uses motor oil?
- Point50
I have to agree with garretwest a little bit. I'm not a skater, but I know i would be pissed off if someone fucked up my property by skating on it. I would put bronze treefrogs on the fuckin toilet seats if I had to.

why not a fist in the butt?
they have those things all over campus and they look like leaves. the best part is they just put them over the old fucked up curbs so it just looks worse

(Aug 3 05, 11:07)How did those curbs get fucked up? Just asking.

(Aug 3 05, 11:14)probably something to do with jesus or the vampires
- IRNlun60
i wonder how it feels to sit on a bench covered in those little metal fuc*ers...
- ********0
why not just wrap benches with razor wire?
works for prisons.

I see MLP. So Jesus and Vampires can fuck up a curb but wood and aluminum can't.
Cool. Got it.

glad you got my point. most find it a little too abstract.
you're the first biker i've ever heard of that hates doing what his sport is all about - finding the best spots possible to have the most fun possible. interesting.
yes, skate trucks wear away curbs and take paint off rails, but bikes will tear chunks out of spots with the pegs and kids messing up hitting their chainwheel on stuff.
but yeah, it doesn't make sense to put those things on curbs that are already skated - they'll still look the way they do. at least fix them first.
