Okay, I'm not sure if that's entirely accurate, but they sure are acting like it.
First off let me set the stage.
I'm probably alot like alot of you. Having tried my share of substances and enjoyed others to a more or lesser degree.
I have a responsible family that can afford and knows how to have a good time and within the last 2 months I have "hung out with my parents"
Fast forward to yesterday.
My brother and I go to visit our grandmother and mother, stopping by mom's first.
From the moment we walk in, it feels wierd.
My brother and I say hello and Happy Mother's Day and present our "They were out of Cards" Cake
We get laughs and thier attention averts to the TV which strangely enough is on the inspirational channel INSP.
They begin telling us about their views on the new testament and about how they have ordered bibles for their room and table.
They then suggest we should also look into such practices.
My brother and I stare at each other as if we have seen ghosts mouthing the words "What the Fuck" to one another simultaneously.
We then head to the kitchen wispering disbelief as we cut a few slices of cake for everyone.
While finishing our cake we are informed that they have been "shopping around" by attending a few local churches.
I let my brother know it's time to leave.
Again, they suggest we should look into the book for guidance.
I walk out the door to visit my neighbor who has known me since I was 2 so she's like an adopted Grandma.
I had to say Happy Mother's Day to her as well.
I tell her about the "Revelation" next door and she informs me their cars don't move on Sundays and they must only go to church while they're at work and has a good laugh with me over the whole idea.
I leave still not knowing what is going on at my parent's house or saying goodbye to them for that matter.
So I am confronted with the dilemma of Insanity or Christianity on behalf of my parental units.
At nearly 29 years of age this is the first time they have ever given religion such a strangely serious attention or the first time they have ever lied to thier kids to such a point they were nearly frightened.
Either they believe in god or have lost it.
I can't decide which is worse.

maybe you should love them either way.
really, in the grand scheme of things, what difference does it make?
we're all human. no one lives forever. the next thing you know you're holding one of their hands on their death bed wondering where the past 20 years went while you sat at home calling them 'kooks' letting more and more time pass by between calls and visits.
life is short.
btw. god forbid something to ever happen to your folks, i was just giving a scenario.

Thought you were going to say they joined myspace.
Would have been much worse IMO.

Sometimes people need a crutch...

Would you say the same thing if they had gone into Hare Krishna or Satanism, Kona?
- Point50
uh oh...
- mrdobolina0
What about scientology?

(May 15 06, 13:45)Yes, as i have an Aunt who basically worships trees/nature. The "Aura" of the Earth is her healing power. I'll never question it or think of her different.
Gee, I bet you really thought you had me figured out from an online message board huh?

Personally, let them have their beliefs, you know? as long as it doesn't injure others. But, I can say this, I don't tolerate anyone trying to put their religious opinons and practices over on me.

live and let live - as long as they don't start to empty their bank account
- mrdobolina0
Nah Kona, it was an honest question.
There are many people that will make concessions for christianity in this country, but if it were other religions would have different opinions. You know there are people like that.

She actually sent my mother "healing rocks" before my mom went into the hospital this past week. We used them. Figured it couldn't hurt.
And comon... scientology is just plain retarded and you know it. haha.
- Mimio0
This all happened without warning? No signs of emotional/personal stress with them?
- mrdobolina0
A man walking on water is pretty retarded too, So is turning water into wine and making a feast out of a few fish. If you really think about it.
Did you see that scientology article last week about the
super humans" or some shit? That is some out there stuff.

I don't think anyone who logs on to NT everyday can make any judgements towards someone belonging to a cult...

they don't really have any problems, probably could've retired a few years ago, house & cars paid for, savings, etc.
