it seems that most things will be better, easier
it is def not something i think is necessary, but i am sure i will like it after using it for a while

mine was delivered yesterday and i can say for the first time i am not overly impressed. every update until now i would say was pretty substantial but this one doesnt do it for me... oh well.
- Raniator0
Jaline... you can hardly say the 'dock style' is a major update... they'll only changed the blinking shape of it!
Love you.

Its only because people have seen time machine and spaces for over a year now

whats up with the mp3 preview in the finder? cant scan through the tracks anymore WEAK!!!!
- JerseyRaindog0
What about quick look? That will be a huge timesaver for me personally.
Hopefully I'll never have to open Word again to see a useless logo provided by an idiotic client.

what a moaning bunch of miserable whores

(Oct 26 07, 01:25)my thoughts exactly.
i'll probably wait a month before doing a wipe and install but so far i've heard nothing but raves from people who are already using it.
funny how everyone is complaining about OSX visual gimmicks yet at the same time saying Leopard is a let done cause it doesn't look all that different.
Spotlight is apparently 200% fast and truly a live search now. That's a massive feat and upgrade on its own. iApps also reported running 50-75% faster.

(Oct 26 07, 01:25)correct you are.
i installed this morning. took about 35 minutes, another 20 for spotlight to index.
runs great. maybe a little faster, and look is very similiar.
what you'll like that you didn't have before
1.coverflow
2.spaces
3.stacking
- plyzo0
Comes down to whether you want to spend 129 dollars for certain features. I think with spaces, and coverflow it might be worth it. Along with an update to mail, rss within it .
things like that..
I would like to see a bench test of the new software though.
- Meeklo0
I wasn't talking about features, I was directly targeting DESIGN.
The leopard theme looks cheap to me, I'm not talking about speed or linux or pc vs mac, this comment was about design, the huge x on the box, the spacey backgrounds, etc.

notes and to dos in mail give me a hard on

What about Boot Camp? I saw the BETA expired today. Is my Windows partition going to self-destruct now?
- kero0
i think its dope, i run logic 8 on it and it runs waaaaay faster then before., in fact it seems like everything runs smoother. and it looks sick! cover flow is dope , hit space bar on an mp3 while your on coverflow and u can preview just fine. way better than the old way of previewing mp3s. cant wait til shapeshifter comes out.
- myobie0
from the sounds of it, i might go buy it tonight at the store
may as well waste tonight backing everything up, making a list of installed apps, finding serial numbers, wiping the drive, installing the os, updating bootcamp, reinstalling all my apps, etc

Raniator, the dock isn't a huge update , but it's one of the focal points for me when using my system. I love it. Not sure if I love the new style, but I have to try it out before having an opinion on it.
Jersey, that's true. Quick Look will very useful.
It's not a matter of IF I get Leopard now, it's WHEN I install it. I'm getting it this weekend, most likely.
Do you have to wipe everything before installing? All previous programs will work correctly, right?

Enter response:
whenever i try to preview large photo or video files in the finder it chokes in tiger. i often deal with files that are around 1gig. if leopard alleviates the finder beachball i'll be psyched, but i certainly won't be updating until others chime in with their observations.
blah blah blah. faster computing is better.
- czawada0
Can anyone who has it installed shed some light on this lil tidbit posted on Macrumors:
"Coverflow works for fonts."

Jaline
(Oct 26 07, 13:53)jaline no you don't have to wipe your disk, you can just upgrade your Tiger system.
but for many an OS upgrade is convenient time to clean house and start fresh. its usually my routine but i skipped w/ Tiger so will def zero drive before Leopard.

Thanks, horton.
I just got my Macbook a few months back so my system isn't very full yet. Therefore, I think I will just upgrade.
